How does Mokshada system works?
VARANASI: The system is used for performing last rite function while keeping the age-old system and ritual of burning dead bodies on wooden pyres intact. The system (conceptualised in 1992) basically uses perforated burning chamber with chimney facility and enables full combustion of dead body, minimising the heat loss while saving up to 75% of wood. The perforated burning chamber with walls from three sides allows the entry of dead body from the open area and kin and relatives of deceased person can also catch glimpses of the burning process. The system has got religious and social recognition and efforts have been made to keep the belief and faith of last rite tradition of Hindu religion intact.Advantages of Mokshada system# The system allows full combustion of dead body as per Hindutradition# It reduces the chances of pollution of water bodies(mostly rivers), as the dead body is completely burnt# It saves upto 75% of wood that is used for burning dead body# The burning ofdead body in special perforated chamber with chimney facility allows rapidburning and saves time# By saving wood and tress, the system alsocontributes to reduction of emission of green house gases that are responsiblefor global warming(Source: Vinod Agrawal, founder president,Mokshada)
