Opposition’s 2024 narrative exposed, UP will vote for BJP in 2027: Chaudhary
Varanasi: With the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) beginning to shape its strategy for the 2027 Uttar Pradesh Assembly elections, its state president Pankaj Chaudhary on Wednesday targeted the Samajwadi Party leadership, saying the opposition managed to “mislead” voters by setting a “false narrative” during the 2024 Lok Sabha polls, but claimed their “reality was exposed” afterward.Reacting to indications of a possible Samajwadi Party-Congress understanding, as hinted ahead of the June 10 INDIA bloc meeting in Delhi, Chaudhary said public sentiment shifted in favour of the BJP-led alliance in states that held Assembly elections after the 2024 general election. He cited Haryana, Delhi, Maharashtra, Bihar and West Bengal as examples, asserting that voters there “clearly showed their faith” in the National Democratic Alliance.Chaudhary said the BJP’s reduced tally in Uttar Pradesh in the 2024 Lok Sabha election was due to the opposition’s narrative.“Due to the false narrative spread by opposition, BJP got a few seats less,” he said, adding that subsequent election results in other states reflected a rejection of what he called dynastic politics.Referring to West Bengal, he alleged that “corruption, hooliganism and nepotism” were at an extreme there, and claimed voters signalled their intentions against such practices.
He also attacked the Samajwadi Party’s PDA outreach pitch, arguing that the BJP works for all sections “without discrimination” and does not rely on caste-based mobilisation.“If anybody talks about caste, the entire BJP’s structure should be seen carefully to know how each and every section of society has representation in it,” he said. Pointing to himself and BJP chief ministers in states such as Bihar, Madhya Pradesh and Haryana, he said the party gives “maximum accommodation” to a wide range of communities, including in the Union Cabinet. On candidate selection for the 2027 polls, Chaudhary said the BJP would rely on organisational processes, including worker feedback, internal surveys and self-review, to decide nominations. He declined to comment on speculation about early elections in Uttar Pradesh, saying the matter falls under the Election Commission’s domain.
