SIR phase-3 kicks off in Andhra Pradesh from June 5
Vijayawada: The Election Commission of India (ECI) on Thursday announced the schedule for the special intensive revision (SIR) of electoral rolls in Andhra Pradesh, along with 15 other states and three Union Territories (UTs), under phase III of the nationwide exercise.The exercise, which will be carried out in phases in AP, will begin with preparatory work, training, and printing activities from June 5 to June 14. Booth-level officers (BLOs) will carry out house-to-house verification and enumeration of electors between June 15 and July 14. Rationalisation of polling stations will also be completed by July 14.The draft electoral roll will be published on July 21, claims and objections can be filed from July 21 to Aug 20, and their disposal will continue till Sept 18 during the notice phase. The final electoral roll will be published on Sept 22.The ECI stated that SIR is being conducted with the participation of electors, political parties, and election officials to ensure transparency and accuracy in electoral rolls. Political parties have been asked to appoint booth-level agents (BLAs) for each polling station to facilitate the process.As per ECI data, Andhra Pradesh has 4.16 crore electors as of May 12, 2026. A total of 46,397 BLOs and 68,868 BLAs will be involved in the roll revision exercise across the state.
