M Tarun of the Dr L Bullayya College was adjudged the Strong Boy of the competition in the State junior weightlifting at Anakapalle. He won the 81kg category with a total lift of 291kg (130kg+ 161). N Kumundini Patnaik won the women’s 87kg bronze.
Athletics trials
The Visakhapatnam Athletics Association’s trials will be held from 8 am at the Andhra University grounds on Sept 5 and 6 to select its U-14, 16, 18, 20 and 23 years athletes for the state meet in Guntur from Sept 14 to 16.
