Visakhapatnam: State municipal administration and urban development minister P Narayana asked individuals who have encroached upon govt land and constructed unauthorised structures to voluntarily relinquish these properties to the govt.
He warned that failure to comply would result in strict action by the authorities. On Tuesday, Narayana held review meetings with officials from GVMC and VMRDA. Earlier in the day, he visited the waste-to-energy plant in Visakhapatnam.
Speaking to the media after visiting the plant, Narayana said that the culprits must surrender the encroached lands within municipalities, or the govt would reclaim them. “We will start taking action against those who have occupied govt land,” he warned.
MLA Ganta Srinivasa Rao added that if the encroachers do not comply, a demolition drive, similar to (Telangana’s) HYDRA initiative, would be enforced.
"Officials issued TDR bonds worth Rs. 730 crores, compared to the Rs. 59 crores worth of TDR bonds in Tanuku. As per court orders, we have established committees to investigate illegal TDRs. The TDR issue will be resolved by the end of September. Of the 203 Anna Canteens, 202 buildings are ready. We launched 100 canteens on August 15, and another 75 will be inaugurated on September 13. The sand scarcity issue will be resolved by October 15. Chief minister N Chandrababu Naidu will decide on the use of the buildings in Rushikonda. CM has devised a plan to develop all 13 districts equally," added Narayana.
Later, Narayana held a review meeting to assess the progress of development projects implemented by the Visakhapatnam Metropolitan Region Development Authority (VMRDA) and the Greater Visakhapatnam Municipal Corporation (GVMC).
He requested updates on the financial health of these projects and provided several suggestions to the officials to expedite the district's development.
