According to the information, the drunk man, K Venkanna, resorted to the act after his mother refused to give him her social security pension money on December 31. He reportedly asked for money to consume more liquor during the New Year celebrations.
Venkanna’s action sent the villagers into a tizzy, and they suspected that he might have fallen from the electric pole.
After switching off the power supply, they appealed to him to get down; however, he refused. The villagers spent some tense moments as Venkanna was on the wires for some time. After repeated appeals from the villagers, he got down from the electric pole.
Based on the information, the police rushed to the spot and registered a case against Venkanna. When police questioned Venkanna about his dangerous stunt, he sarcastically replied that he asked his mother for money to buy medicine. When she refused, he reportedly became enraged and, in a fit of anger, decided to lie down on the electric wires as a protest.
