IIT Delhi inaugurates exhibition hall named after alumnus Binny Bansal
Flipkart co-founder Binny Bansal honoured with IIT Delhi exhibition hall
NEW DELHI: The Indian Institute of Technology Delhi on Monday inaugurated an exhibition hall named after its alumnus and Flipkart co-founder Binny Bansal, recognising his contributions to the institute. The exhibition hall, located on the ground floor of the institute’s main administrative building, has long served as a space for exhibitions and institutional displays. It has now been named in honour of Bansal, following an announcement made in December 2025. The inauguration ceremony was attended by Bansal, IIT Delhi Director Rangan Banerjee, along with faculty members, staff, students, and guests, including Bansal’s family and associates. Addressing attendees, Bansal reflected on his time at IIT Delhi and expressed hope that the space would continue to encourage students to develop and showcase new ideas. Banerjee noted that naming the hall acknowledges Bansal’s association with the institute and his support for its initiatives. Earlier in the day, Bansal also participated in an interactive session with students, where he spoke about his entrepreneurial journey, including the early years of building Flipkart, and shared perspectives on the technology sector in India. The session included a question-and-answer segment with students. The exhibition hall is expected to continue serving as a multi-purpose space for academic and community-related activities on campus.
