WBCHSE HS Semester 3 Result 2025 Live Updates: The West Bengal Council of Higher Secondary Education (WBCHSE) is expected to declare the results of the state’s first-ever semester-based Uchha Madhyamik (Class 12) examination today, marking a historic transformation in the state’s evaluation system. The results were announced at the Council headquarters in Salt Lake, Kolkata, at 12:30 PM and were made available to students after 2 PM on the official websites, wbchse.wb.gov.in and result.wb.gov.in.

This year’s examinations, held from September 8 to September 22, saw the participation of approximately 6.6 lakh students, of whom 56.03 percent were girls. The tests were conducted across 2,106 examination centres throughout the state. The introduction of the semester format replaces the traditional annual examination system that had been followed in West Bengal since 1978, marking the most significant academic reform in nearly five decades.

Under the newly implemented structure, the Uchha Madhyamik curriculum is divided into four semesters, each designed to assess different aspects of student learning. Semesters one and three feature multiple-choice questions to test analytical and reasoning skills, while semesters two and four focus on descriptive and short-answer questions to develop writing ability and conceptual clarity. The approach aims to promote a more balanced, skill-oriented mode of learning, reducing the dependence on rote memorisation and year-end pressure.

Education authorities have emphasised that the restructured pattern seeks to align West Bengal’s higher secondary education system with national standards of competency-based evaluation envisioned under the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020. The new model is expected to provide students with greater academic continuity and ensure consistent performance tracking throughout the academic cycle.

The WBCHSE has also taken steps to digitise the result dissemination process, enabling students to access their marks through official online portals. This move enhances transparency and accessibility, particularly for students in remote areas. Physical mark sheets will be distributed through schools in the coming days.

With the declaration of these results, West Bengal’s education system has officially transitioned into a new era of continuous and formative assessment. The semester-based Uchha Madhyamik framework stands as a major policy shift that redefines academic evaluation, ensuring that learning outcomes are measured through comprehension, critical reasoning, and sustained academic engagement rather than one-time examinations.
