Alliance standings across Tamil Nadu, West Bengal, Puducherry and Kerala
Counting is underway across four states and the numbers are shifting fast. In Tamil Nadu, where 118 seats are needed for a majority in the 234-seat assembly, independent and smaller-party candidates cumulatively hold a tally of 115 seats, with 10 declared and 105 leads still in progress, leaving them just 3 short of the majority mark. SPA has a tally of 60 seats while NDA stands at 55, with neither alliance close to the threshold at this stage. In West Bengal, BJP is leading in enough seats to cross the majority mark of 148 in the 294-seat house if those leads hold, carrying a tally of 179 that includes 11 won and 168 leading. TMC trails with a tally of 106, comprising 2 won and 104 leading. Candidates from other parties or independent candidates cumulatively lead in 8 seats in West Bengal. In Puducherry, NDA has a tally of 18 in the 30-seat assembly, where 16 are needed for a majority, and is leading in enough seats to cross that mark if the leads hold. NDA has won 13 and is leading in 5. SPA has a tally of 5, with 2 won and 3 leading. Kerala's 140-seat assembly requires 71 for a majority. UDF holds a tally of 87, with 68 declared and 19 leading, and is comfortably past the majority threshold on current tallies if those leads hold. LDF trails with 30 won and 6 leading, giving it a tally of 36. Candidates from other parties or independent candidates cumulatively hold a tally of 17 seats in Kerala.
