NDA leads in Assam and Puducherry, BJP ahead in West Bengal
Counting is underway across four states and union territories, with results taking shape in Assam, Tamil Nadu, West Bengal, and Puducherry. In Assam, where 64 seats are needed for a majority in the 126-seat assembly, NDA holds a tally of 97, having won 28 and leading in 69 more, well past the majority mark on current leads. Congress and its allies are at a tally of 22, all leads with no seats declared yet, while candidates from other parties and independents cumulatively account for a tally of 7 in the state. In Tamil Nadu, where the majority mark is 118 across 234 seats, SPA has a tally of 60, with 7 won and 53 leading, while NDA trails with a tally of 55 seats, all leads. Candidates from other parties and independents cumulatively lead in Tamil Nadu with a tally of 115, needing 3 more to cross the majority mark if those leads hold. In West Bengal, BJP is leading in enough seats to cross the majority mark of 148 in the 294-seat house, holding a tally of 179 with 11 won and 168 leading. TMC is trailing with a tally of 106, comprising 2 won and 104 leading seats, while candidates from other parties and independents cumulatively account for a tally of 8 in the state. In Puducherry, NDA has a tally of 18 in the 30-seat assembly where 16 are needed for a majority, with 13 seats already won and 5 leads still being counted, putting the alliance past the majority mark on current numbers. SPA has a tally of 5 in Puducherry, with 2 won and 3 leading, while candidates from other parties and independents cumulatively hold a tally of 7 seats there.
