#Rewind2021: A peek into Nusrat Jahan’s most controversial year

2021 turned out to be the most eventful and most controversial year in Nusrat Jahan’s life. Yet, the spotlight never left her. Be it the marital discord, alleged relationship with Yash Dasgupta, accepting pregnancy braving all criticism or embracing motherhood – she’s has set the example for women like her. Throughout the year, the actor-politician showed how to live your life on your own terms. Here’s a sneak peek into Nusrat Jahan’s 2021 timeline and the most significant moments.

Nusrat Jahan says her son Yishaan has 'a normal father and a normal mother’

The Rajasthan trip

The rumours and speculations started doing the rounds since December last year. A series of pictures on Instagram became food for thoughts for the gossipmongers. There were reports suggesting Nusrat and Yah went for the Rajasthan trip together although they didn’t post any picture together. However, Tollywood was abuzz with rumours that they are in a relationship and it might have started from the sets of their 2020 film ‘SOS Kolkata’.

Relationship rumours getting stronger

In January, while giving an interview Nuasrat had gave a hint that she might be involved in a relationship with actor Yash Dasgupta. Although at that time those were nothing but rumours it didn’t stop netizens speculating about Nusrat’s personal life and occasionally launching personal attack online.

The big breaking ‘pregnancy’ confirmation

Then came the assembly election in Bengal and the actor-politician got busy in campaigns. In the meantime, the second wave of COVID-19 hit everyone hard. In June, one particular news sent a shockwave across the nation, especially in West Bengal. The news of Nusrat’s pregnancy grabbed all the headlines. Some started speculating that Nusrat might be looking to be a single mother while others thought she might go for adoption. Others kept busy in deciding who to blame for the fallen marriage of Nusrat and Nikhil Jain. Moral policing started dominating social media. Amid all these, Nusrat and Yash remained silent but Nikhil decided not to remain silent.

5/9

Nikhil’s explosive statement

Nikhil Jain publicly announced he’s not the father of Nusrat’s baby. At that time, everybody already knew Nikhil and Nusrat are living separately and their marriage is over. Meanwhile, Nikhil filed a case. They got married in Turkey in 2019 but the interfaith marriage had to be registered in India to make it valid. Nikhil alleged that Nusrat never wanted to register their marriage. So, the ‘annulment of marriage’ case moved to Alipore special court.

6/9

There’s no ‘marriage’

Nusrat Jahan had released a shocking statement claiming that her marriage with Nikhil Jain happened according to Turkish law and that’s why it isn’t valid in India. She also alleged that her family jewelry and some other assets were 'illegally held back' by Nikhil. She even claimed that her "funds were mishandled" from several accounts without her permission. Nusrat’s statement came as a hige shock for everyone.

Row over marital status reaches Lok Sabha

There were protests in Lok Sabha regarding Nusrat Jahan’s marital status. BJP MPs demanded action and detailed investigation by the Ethics Committee of the House against Nusrat for allegedly giving false information to Parliament regarding her marital status. It led to an avalanche of criticism.

8/9

Yash is the father

Amid all these criticism, on August 26, Nusrat gave birth to a baby boy and then a week later the birth certificate of his son surfaced online which listed Yash Dasgupta as the father of the baby boy Yishaan. Nusrat, too, accepted that Yash is the father and Yishaan is lucky to have a father like Yash. I will give Yash 11 out of 10 as a father.

9/9

Against all odds

Yishaan is now 4 months old and Nusrat has already returned to work. No criticism can dampen her spirit and she has a slew of films in her kitty right now. New offers are also coming her way and her relationship with Yash is not a secret these days. They are more vocal now about their relationship. The couple often treats their Instagram pictures with pictures that clearly show the state of mind they are in right now.

Throughout the year she has been criticized, her actions have been questioned, speculation and gossip didn’t stop – and yet haters have accepted Nusrat is undoubtedly brave. She has the guts to challenge age-old beliefs and why not? Her mental strength has one of the biggest pillars for Nusrat Jahan in 2021.
