The Bhojpuri film industry has made tremendous growth in recent times. Several celebrities have gained great success after working in that place. Bhojpuri actors have come a long way to attract the audience by making some great content. Bhojpuri is mainly based on the true lifestyle of rural people. Superstar Nirahua and Monalisa starrer Bhojpuri film ‘Biwi No. 1’ was directed by Ajit Srivastava. Bollywood comedy film ‘Biwi No. 1’ was a super-hit at the box office. The movie stars Salman Khan, Karishma Kapoor, Sushmita Sen, Anil Kapoor, Tabu and Saif Ali Khan in a special appearance. It was directed by David Dhawan and produced by Vashu Bhagnani.

'Shahenshah' saw Amitabh Bachchan as a crime-fighting superhero, but the Bhojpuri film by the same name was a romantic-actioner. Bollywood film ‘Sarkar Raj’ was a hit starring megastar Amitabh Bachchan, Abhishek Bachchan and Aishwarya Rai Bachchan in a pivotal role. It was a crime thriller and a sequel to the film ‘Sarkar’. Pawan Singh and Monalisa starrer ‘Sarkar Raj’ was an action thriller, directed by Arvind Chaubey. Along with Monalisa and Pawan, other famous Bhojpuri actresses Akshara Singh, Rani Chatterjee and Awadhesh Mishra also played roles in the film.

Bhojpuri film Border is a bit like the Bollywood movie apart from sharing the same name. The Bollywood flick had an interesting lineup of stars including Sunny Deol, Sunil Shetty, Akshay Khanna and others, while the Bhojpuri 'Border' had one of the most popular pairs - Amrapali Dubey and Dinesh Lal Yadav. The movie directed by Santosh Mishra and produced by Pravesh Lal Yadav also had its poster similar to the Hindi film.

'Wanted' is one of the best action-packed thrillers of Bhojpuri star Pawan Singh that was much loved by the audience. The movie directed by Sujeet Kumar Singh was produced by Jaswant Kumar. The Bollywood movie, on the other hand, was one of the biggest super hits of Salman Khan and Ayesha Takia, directed by Prabhu Deva. The film was a romance-actioner, where Salman played a role of an undercover agent and it went on to become the second highest grossing Bollywood film of 2009.

The Hindi film 'Gadar', starring Sunny Deol and Amisha Patel is a timeless classic. The movie was based on a love story during the time of partition of India. It was loosely based on the life of Boota Singh. It's no wonder why director Ramakant Prasad looked to this film to make his own romantic-action Bhojpuri version also titled 'Gadar'. The film starred Pawan Singh, Monalisa and Shubhi Sharma in lead roles.
