Fans hail Margot Robbie’s 'pure old world glamor' as she wears Elizabeth Taylor’s Rs 74 crore Taj Mahal diamond necklace at ‘Wuthering Heights’ premiere
Margot Robbie created a stir at the Los Angeles premiere of ‘Wuthering Heights’ with her eye-catching fashion as well as the historic jewellery she wore to complement it; she is also best known for her role as Barbie. She arrived on the red carpet in a gorgeous and very vintage way by wearing what is now known as Elizabeth Taylor's famous Taj Mahal diamond necklace, which has been estimated to be worth around Rs 74 crores (approximately 7 million dollars).
Robbie chose a stunning off-the-shoulder dress that had a black sheer top with lace bodice and a flowing skirt with a deep red and crimson hem for this year's premiere party; all eyes were on her incredible jewellery. What was even more stunning than what Robbie was wearing was actually the stunning necklace she was wearing, Elizabeth Taylor's heart-shaped diamond Taj Mahal necklace. This famous piece has a heavy cinematic history and an equally rich historical background.
Owing to its deep association with the Mughal dynasty, the jewel came to be known as the Taj Mahal Diamond. In 1971, French luxury house Cartier acquired the diamond and redesigned it, embellishing the piece with table-cut diamonds and rich red gemstones.
Directed by Emerald Fennell, the film marks her third feature-length adaptation and is slated for release on 13 February 2026.
