John McEnroe, Serena Williams, Andy Roddick and Chris Evert: From centre court to Hollywood movies

Over the years, a lot of tennis stars have walked out of the court and into the midst of a movie set. Adam Sandler has been one of the champions in persuading top tennis professionals to make cameo appearances and sometimes play full-fledged characters in his comedies. And some of these stars have simply loved it, taking up other movies and TV shows. These include John McEnroe, Serena Williams, Andy Roddick and Chris Evert to name a few. Read on to know more...

John McEnroe

Winner of seven grand slams and fondly known as the king of confrontation on tennis courts. John McEnroe is having the time of his life on film sets these days. He has played the fictional version of himself in a few Adam Sandler starrers, and has also appeared in a documentary on himself. John even featured as a narrator of popular OTT show, Never Have I Ever. He was married to Tatum O’Neal once and is now singer Patty Smith’s husband. He has also acted in '7 Days in Hell', a sports mockumentary about a marathon tennis final that lasts seven days.

Andy Roddick

He is another top champion and tennis professional who has been flirting with films. He appeared in a fleeting role first in Adam Sandler starrer 'Just Go With It', and has also appeared in 'Celebrity Family Feud' and has hosted Saturday Night Live. Andy has also appeared in music videos and been the face of several advertisements too.

Serena Williams

Serena Williams was born into a tennis family and has served her moves in a couple of films too. She played herself in the tennis film, '7 Days in Hell' and was cast in the blockbuster film 'Pixels', which narrates the story of a global attack of video game characters. She played herself in 'Pixels'. Serena has also appeared on 'The Simpsons'.

Chris Evert

A darling of the tennis court in the 70s, Chris Evert has made several appearances in films. She has worked closely with John McEnroe and Serena Williams and had a small role in '7 Days in Hell'. She has also acted in comedy film 'Trainwreck' with Amy Schumer and Judd Apatow and has featured in the 2004 release 'Wimbledon'.
