'You deserve two Oscars': Jamie Foxx gets overwhelmed after Michael B. Jordan mentions him in his Academy Award acceptance speech
Michael B. Jordan made history at the 2026 Oscars, and Jamie Foxx had a lot to say about it. On Sunday, March 15, Jordan took home the Academy Award for Best Actor for his role in 'Sinners,' becoming the sixth Black man to win the honor in the ceremony's 98-year history. And when he got up on that stage, he made sure to name the people who came before him.
According to People, Jordan said during the televised event, "I stand here because of the people that came before me: Sidney Poitier, Denzel Washington, Halle Berry, Jamie Foxx, Forest Whitaker, Will Smith. And to be amongst those giants, amongst those great greats, amongst my ancestors, amongst my guys. Thank you, everybody, in this room and everybody at home, for supporting me over my career. I feel it. I know you guys want me to do well, and I want to do that because you guys bet on me."
Foxx, the 58-year-old award-winning actor, was clearly moved. He took to Instagram almost immediately, sharing a video of the moment Adrien Brody announced Jordan as the winner. "I can barely breathe right now… you were absolutely incredible in this film," Foxx wrote in the caption, calling Jordan an "amazing actor, an amazing director — truly all of the above."
He did not stop there. "Honestly, you deserve two Oscars for this one," the 'Ray' star continued. "When I sat down to watch the movie, I already knew it was going to be special the moment I saw a pair of Jordans on screen. Then the first line — 'Are you guys twins?' and you hit us with, 'No… we cousins!' — man, I was locked in from there."
In 'Sinners,' directed by Ryan Coogler, Jordan played twins Smoke and Stack, a dual performance that had audiences and the Academy alike completely won over. Leonardo DiCaprio, Ethan Hawke, Timothée Chalamet and Wagner Moura were also nominated in the Best Actor category.
Foxx kept the celebration going into Monday, March 16, posting a photo of Jordan standing beside Coogler, who took home the Academy Award for Best Original Screenplay on the same night.
"What's better than one Oscar? ," Foxx captioned the post. Jordan and Coogler have a long history together, having also collaborated on 'Black Panther' and 'Fruitvale Station.'After his big night, Jordan celebrated the way anyone should after winning an Oscar. He headed straight to Los Angeles staple In-N-Out Burger, where staff and fans cheered him on and posed for photos, per clips shared on social media. From the Dolby Theatre to the drive-thru, it was a night to remember.Get the latest entertainment updates from the Times of India, along with the latest Hindi movies, upcoming Hindi movies in 2026 , and Telugu movies.”
