Golden Globes 2015: Highlights of the awards

It was one dazzling night in Hollywood, as stars descended on the red carpet to attend the 72nd Golden Globe Awards. The function was held at the Beverly Hilton Hotel in Beverly Hills. Amy Poehler and Tina Fey were the host of the show. Golden Globe honours artists in the television and film fraternity. Julianne Moore won the best actress award for Still Alice, while Boyhood won the Golden Globe for best picture. We bring to you some of the interesting highlights of the Golden night.

George Clooney arrived hand in hand with his wife Amal Clooney. She looked gorgeous in a black gown, the look was completed with white gloves and a white clutch. At the Golden Globe Awards, George Clooney received the prestigious Cecil B. DeMille lifetime achievement honour. The actor's speech had a special mention of his wife. According to an IANS report, George said, "It's a humbling thing to find someone to love. Amal, I couldn't be prouder to be your husband."

Sunday night saw Kevin Spacey in a dramatic mood. The actor bagged the Golden Globe Award for the best actor in a TV series. According to a story on Hollywoodreporter.com, Kevin Spacey's speech brought in a little bit of his Frank Underwood character while receiving the Golden Globe Award. His speech went, "This is just the beginning of my revenge. This is the eighth time I've been nominated. I cannot believe I f—ing won." The report further stated that Kevin also thanked his co-stars in the speech.

Singer-actress Jennifer Lopez also received a compliment from Jeremy Renner at the Golden Globe Awards night. According to a report on Dailymail.co.uk, Jennifer and Jeremy had come onstage to announce the best actor in a television mini-series or movie when Jennifer spoke about opening the envelope, "You want me to do it? I have the nails." To this Jeremy said, "You have the globes, too." Jennifer Lopez was dressed in a shimmering silver gown with a thigh high slit which accentuated her curves, with a plunging neckline.

The Golden Globes was indeed a starry event, however in all the rush it seems like one of the veteran actresses was injured. According to a PTI report, Kathy Bates was limping at the awards as someone had stepped on her foot. The report further referred to an onlooker who stated that the actress screamed out in pain and almost collapsed. The PTI report also stated that Kathy Bates was injured an hour after the awards function began.

The Golden Globe Awards saw the attendance of several Hollywood celebrities. And most of them came out in support of the attacks that happened in Paris recently. According to an AFP report, Oscar-winning actor Jared Leto paid a tribute and even spoke in French, "On vous aime. Je suis Charlie ("We love you. I am Charlie"), Leto said. The report further stated that George Clooney, who received the Cecil B. DeMille award also expressed his support with a badge which said, 'Je suis Charlie'. While according to a PTI report, veteran actress Kathy Bates had the words 'Je Suis Charlie' written on the back of her mobile phone.
