Delhi's art lovers get a glimpse of Banarasi heritage
The art show Eternal Heritage hosted by Jyoti Kalra of Uchaan Arts, features the works of self-taught artist Paramesh Paul, capturing the timeless beauty and spiritual depth of Banaras (Varanasi). The lamp-lighting ceremony at the preview event on September 5 at Open Palm Court, India Habitat Centre was attended by guests like Dr. Sanjeev Kishor Goutam, Director General of NGMA; Peggy Frantzen, Ambassador of Luxembourg; Rama Panday, film producer; and Kanokporn Kunnawattana (Marcie), Minister Counsellor at the Royal Thai Embassy in New Delhi. The event also saw the presence of art lovers and connoisseurs like Sunit Tandon, along with several other artists and art enthusiasts who gathered to appreciate the exhibition.
Jyoti Kalra shared that Eternal Heritage took viewers on a deep journey into the ancient city of Banaras, exploring India's rich spiritual and cultural heritage. Paramesh Paul's paintings reflect the ancient ghats and temples of Banaras, showing a heritage that continues to influence and inspire today's world.
Paramesh Paul describes his paintings as vibrant and filled with mythological imagery, blending the physical with the spiritual. Born in a rural village in West Bengal in 1970, his early life was influenced by pottery and craft. He started his art journey by making clay sculptures of gods and later took inspiration from Hindu symbols like the Nandi bull, Lord Shiva, the Ganges River, the ghats, and the sacred temples of Banaras.
Sunit Tandon, Anupam Sud, Tirthanker Viswas, and many other art lovers and friends attended the art exhibition.
