Kiran Kumar, known as Deepak Dhar and was born on 20th October 1953 to a Kashmiri Pandit family in Mumbai, Maharashtra. He completed his schooling at The Daly College, Indore, and graduated from R.D National College, Bandra, Mumbai. He eventually got married to his longtime girlfriend Sushma Verma. As he became a prominent part of the industry, he also started his own venture with the popular Production house.

Theatre has been his main focus and has always helped him self-evaluate for his performances. He has been actively involved in theatre since 1971 and has been part of multiple projects since then, working for many film industries.

Kiran Kumar had worked in multiple Hindi films including 'Do Boond Pani', 'Jangal Mein Mangal', and later came to star in films like 'Khudgarz'. The actor has been highly appreciated for his negative roles, he has also given his best in films like 'Tezaab' and 'Khuda Gawah'.
