Akshay Kumar to Anushka Sharma and Hrithik Roshan – Bollywood celebrities donate towards Covid-19 relief

PM Narendra Modi recently urged everyone to donate towards the Prime Minister’s Citizen Assistance and Relief in Emergency Situations Fund (PM-CARES) and several Bollywood celebrities have extended support to the same. On the other hand, Hrithik Roshan pledged financial help to the BMC staff working round the clock. From Shilpa Shetty to Bhumi Pednekar and Varun Dhawan – several celebrities are providing financial aid. Here’s taking a look at other Bollywood celebrities who have extended financial support amidst this health scare.

In response to PM Modi’s post urging people to donate funds for disaster management and research amidst this health scare, Akshay Kumar pledged to donate Rs 25 crore to the cause. “This is that time when all that matters is the lives of our people. And we need to do anything and everything it takes. I pledge to contribute Rs 25 crores from my savings to @narendramodi ji’s PM-CARES Fund. Let’s save lives, Jaan hai toh jahaan hai,” the actor had posted. Later in an interview with a news portal, Akshay had stated that this is his mother’s contribution for ‘Bharat Maa’.

Anushka Sharma and Virat Kohli also extended financial support in the fight against Coronavirus. In a social media post, Anushka wrote, “Virat and I are pledging our support towards PM-CARES Fund & the Chief Minister’s Relief Fund (Maharashtra). Our hearts are breaking looking at the suffering of so many & we hope our contribution, in some way, helps easing the pain of our fellow citizens. #IndiaFightsCorona.” The couple refrained from disclosing the amount.

Hrithik Roshan extended support to the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation as their staff continues to work amid the health scare. A source had revealed to ETimes, “Hrithik has extended his support to the Government of Maharashtra in their endeavour to curb the spread of pandemic. He had been looking for ways to help the street level bureaucrats like the BMC workers and other caretakers who are out there and contributed a total amount of Rs 20 lakh to the cause.” Hrithik also reportedly procured N95 and FFP3 masks for the BMC workers.

Kartik Aaryan did his bit by contributing to PM Cares fund. In a Twitter post the actor shared, “It is the absolute need of the hour to rise together as a Nation. Whatever I am, whatever money I’ve earned, is only because of the people of India; and for us I am contributing Rs. 1 crore to the PM-CARES Fund. I URGE all my fellow Indians also to help as much as possible.”

Prabhas also extended support to Prime Minister’s National Relief Fund as well as the Chief Minister Relief Fund. The actor donated Rs 4 crore in total with Rs 3 crore being pledged towards Prime Minister’s National Relief Fund while Rs 50 lakh each would be contributed to the Chief Minister Relief Funds of Andhra Pradesh and Telangana.
