From ‘Swades’ to ‘Veer-Zaara’: National Award winner Shah Rukh Khan's most iconic movies

Shah Rukh Khan, recently honored with a National Award, has given some of the most unforgettable performances in Indian cinema. His ability to bring depth, honesty, and emotion to every role has made him a true legend. Whether portraying love, sacrifice, resilience, or wisdom, he leaves a lasting impact on audiences. These iconic portrayals showcase why SRK continues to be celebrated as the “King of Bollywood.”

2/6

'Swades'

Shah Rukh Khan portrays Mohan Bhargava in 'Swades,' an NRI employed by NASA who travels back to India in search of his childhood nanny. What begins as a personal trip transforms into a life-altering experience as he observes the hardships faced by rural India, and SRK's performance in the movie is incredibly genuine and moving. He portrays the part with such authenticity that it seems real and personable.

3/6

'My Name is Khan'

In this movie, Shah Rukh portrays Rizwan Khan, a man with Asperger's Syndrome who travels across America to meet the president. SRK plays the role delicately, showing Rizwan's bravery, honesty, and innocence, in addition to facial expressions, body language, and voice tone that were entirely out of character for him.

4/6

'Chak De! India'

The film is about sports, but it's also about women's empowerment, teamwork, and self-respect. SRK plays Kabir Khan, a former hockey player who is given a second chance to coach the Indian women's hockey team. His role is tough, focused, and intensely emotional. You can see every emotion in his eyes, even though he doesn't smile much in the movie. The audience got chills from the famous "Sattar minute" speech, which went on to become history.

5/6

'Dear Zindagi'

One of SRK's most tender and mature roles is that of Dr. Jehangir Khan, a wise and composed therapist who assists a young girl named Kaira in overcoming her emotional difficulties in Dear Zindagi. There are no dramatic scenes in the movie; instead, there are brief but profound conversations that have a strong impact. Although he is not the primary character, he always brings wisdom and serenity to the screen.

6/6

‘Veer-Zaara’

In 'Veer-Zaara,' Shah Rukh portrays Veer Pratap Singh, an Indian Air Force officer who falls in love with Zaara, a woman who lives across the border. His sacrifice of everything, followed by a 22-year silent imprisonment, demonstrates the depth of his love. SRK's role is composed, mature, and filled with silent suffering. This character will never be forgotten because of his quiet strength, love of peace, and respect for Zaara.
