Happy Birthday, Shruti Haasan: Have you seen these rare clicks of Shruti before she became an actress?

Shruti Haasan has been entertaining the audience since 2000, when she marked her acting debut as a child artist in father Kamala Haasan’s film ‘Hey Ram’. Almost a decade later Shruti faced the camera as a leading lady for Bollywood film ‘Luck’ in 2009 and continues to rule hearts with her performances. Shruti is seen in fewer Bollywood films and is mainly active in Telugu and Tamil ventures. On her birthday today, here’s taking a look at Shruti’s rare childhood and growing up pictures.

Shruti holidaying with family in Hong Kong

Shruti Haasan hails from a family of powerhouse actors. Kamal Haasan and Sarika’s eldest daughter Shruti had posted this memory from 1995 wherein she was snapped on a vacation with her family. The actress looks happy enjoying a lazy holiday in Hong Kong with her mother and sister Akshara Haasan. “This picture perfectly captures my current holiday mood ! Snuggle, cuddles and lazing all day,” Shruti had described the memory.

Shruti’s bored childhood memory

Here’s yet another memory from Shruti’s childhood days and she sure looks like a bored kid. This click was taken in 1991, when the actress was just five years old. All praise for his daughter, Kamal Haasan had once told IANS, “She's an extraordinary girl and I am not talking as her father. I observed her myself at an audition and I was really impressed. I hope there are many more who think like that. She's found her own niche and is going in the right direction," he added.

Singing sensation Shruti

Since a very young age Shruti has had keen interest in music and here she is captured amidst a performance. The actress has a professional degree in music from the Musicians Institute, California and has also learnt North Indian classical music. Shruti made her debut as a playback singer at the age of six in ‘Thevar Magan’ (1992). Her first Bollywood playback number was in ‘Chachi 420’ (1998). And her second Hindi song was in the film ‘Hey Ram’ (2000), wherein she sang the bilingual versions of the title track ‘Rama Rama’ with her father.

Daddy's little girl

Shruti Haasan is very close to her father and she even started her acting career with a brief performance in his film ‘Hey Ram’. Being a star kid has its own disadvantages, speaking to ETimes Shruti had stated, “When you come from a filmi family, the door is open for you to make your entry. But, while it is easy to get an opportunity in films, it also has its share of cons. People expect you act like Kamal Haasan or Sarika immediately, which is impossible. All of us learn... and I am sure even they learnt when they started doing films. Sometimes, I feel these expectations are not very realistic.”
