Kareena, Tabu, Kriti's 'Crew', Alia Bhatt's 'Gangubai Kathiawadi', 'The Kerala Story', 'Article 370': Female led films which scored at the box office post pandemic

Many actress and infact, even trade experts felt that the pandemic has put a full stop almost to the box office numbers which female-driven movies were generating. Seeing the trend, post pandemic, mostly, only big action movies were working and small films also affected badly. Amidst these, female driven movies seemed to have a lesser chance. But Alia Bhatt's 'Gangubai Kathiawadi' changed that perception in a way. Meanwhile, now, Kareena Kapoor Khan, Tabu and Kriti Sanon's 'Crew' is hitting the right chord. Here's looking at 5 movies which set the cash registers ringing post the lockdown phase at the box office!

2/6

Crew

On its Day 1, 'Crew' managed to make Rs 20 crore worldwide gross which was the highest opening day for a female led movie. At the domestic box office, the film managed to garner Rs 8.75 crore. The Kareena Kapoor Khan, Tabu, and Kriti Sanon starrer is being loved by the audience who are finding the film entertaining despite some of its flaws! 'Crew' indeed has set the ball rolling for more female-driven movies to come and one hopes it continues its run at the box office over the next few days till Akshay Kumar, Tiger Shroff starrer biggie 'Bade Miyan Chote Miyan' releases on Eid.

3/6

Gangubai Kathiawadi

Alia Bhatt's 'Gangubai Kathiawadi' came as a breath of fresh air post the pandemic when movies were just not bringing in the money at the box office. It was quite a big deal for this film to collect Rs 132 crore in India and have a worldwide gross of around Rs 211.5 crore according to Sacnilk.

4/6

The Kerala Story

Since Adah Sharma starrer 'The Kerala Story' was made on a small budget, the collections were considered huge! The film generated big amount of profit as the numbers kept growing by the day due to positive word of mouth. The film collected Rs 241.74 crore in India as nett while the worldwide gross came up to Rs 302 Crore.

5/6

Article 370

Yami Gautam and Priyamani's 'Article 370' managed to cross the Rs 100 crore mark as a worldwide gross within 35 days of its run. Meanwhile, in India, the film managed to make Rs 76.55 crore which is still a good number for a film like this!

6/6

Mrs Chatterjee Vs Norway

Rani Mukerji starrer 'Mrs Chatterjee Vs Norway' didn't make the kind of money which the above mentioned films did. Yet, it managed to do much better than even many other big movies which didn't meet expectations at the box office! It made a number of Rs 22 crore in India. The film was directed by Ashima Chibber.
