Years later, in an interview with Femina, Sussanne shared, “We had reached a stage in our lives where I decided that it's better we weren't together. It was important to be aware and not be in a false relationship.” The couple continues to co-parent their sons Hrehaan and Hridhaan.

Karisma and Sunjay, who tied the knot in 2003, filed for divorce through mutual consent in 2014. However, their separation resulted in several controversies. The Delhi-based industrialist had claimed in a divorce petition that Karisma had failed not only as a wife and daughter-in-law, but also as a mother. According to Mumbai Mirror, Sunjay Kapur had claimed that Karisma had married him for his money. Meanwhile, the Bollywood actress had slammed her ex-husband with a domestic violence case, demanding an alimony of Rs 10 lakh a month for her two kids. In her petition, Karisma had reportedly alleged that Sunjay resided with another woman in Delhi while still being married to her. The couple finally parted ways in 2016, reportedly after the couple agreed upon a mutual settlement.
