Mumbai's historic Eros cinema to make a grand comeback as an IMAX screen with Hrithik Roshan's ‘Fighter’

Mumbai's iconic Eros Cinema is set to reopen its doors in a new avatar, featuring a state-of-the-art IMAX screen, and will premiere the Hrithik Roshan and Deepika Padukone starrer ‘Fighter’. Earlier speculations hinted at the reopening, and now the grand unveiling of Eros Cinema IMAX is confirmed to coincide with the Republic Day celebrations. The historic theatre, located near Churchgate railway station, will bring back the cinematic charm that captivated audiences for decades.

The theatre management shared the exciting news via a tweet, expressing the significance of Eros Cinema and the strategic decision to open on Republic Day. The announcement builds anticipation, especially with the inauguration screening of the much-anticipated aerial action thriller 'Fighter.'

For the uninitiated, Eros Cinema closed its doors in 2017 due to declining ticket sales and stiff competition from multiplexes.

Bollywood Hungama hinted in 2018 at its reopening with a reduced seating capacity of 300 on the first floor and a department store on the ground floor. Originally boasting 1204 seats, the cinema holds sentimental value and is featured in Bollywood films, including a portion of the song 'Tum Jo Aaye Zindagi Mein' from ‘Once Upon a Time in Mumbai’ (2010).

Meanwhile, Hrithik Roshan’s aerial action flick ‘Fighter’ has hit the big screens on this day, and the initial reviews are highly positive.
