‘Raja Shivaji’, starring Riteish Deshmukh, explores the life and enduring legacy of Maratha ruler Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj. The makers unveiled the film’s trailer at a grand event in Mumbai, attended by the cast. Slated for a Maharashtra Day 2026 release, the film will go head-to-head with ‘The Devil Wears Prada 2’ across Indian and international markets. The soundtrack by Ajay and Atul has already stirred excitement online in recent days. The trailer promises a visually lavish and large-scale cinematic experience.Riteish Deshmukh, who also directs the film, shared the first trailer of the historical drama on social media. His son will portray a younger version of Shivaji. The action-packed promo features Abhishek, Sanjay, Vidya, and Riteish’s wife Genelia, who appears grandly as Saibai, Chhatrapati Shivaji’s wife. ‘Raja Shivaji’ traces the life of the Maratha warrior, with Abhishek essaying the role of his elder brother.Recently, Riteish, along with Genelia Deshmukh and Abhishek Bachchan, appeared on the grand finale of Bigg Boss Marathi season 6 on April 19 to promote ‘Raja Shivaji’. While hosting the show, Riteish confirmed that Salman Khan has a cameo in the film but chose not to reveal specifics about his character. He only hinted that Khan plays a key role. Reports suggest the actor could be seen as Jiva Mahala. ‘Raja Shivaji’ is directed by Riteish Deshmukh, who also serves as the film’s writer and producer, and it celebrates the life and legacy of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj. The film features an ensemble cast including Sanjay Dutt as Afzal Khan, Abhishek Bachchan as Sambhaji Shahaji Maharaj (Shivaji Maharaj’s brother), Sachin Khedekar as Shahaji Raje Bhosale, Bhagyashree as Jijabai, Vidya Balan as Badi Begum (Adilshah’s wife), Fardeen Khan as Shah Jahan, Jitendra Joshi as Pant, Amol Gupte as Adilshah, and Genelia Deshmukh as Sai Bai.
