Ranveer Singh breaks silence after FWICE issues non-cooperation directive over ‘Don 3’ exit
Ranveer Singh has now responded after the Federation of Western India Cine Employees (FWICE) issued a non-cooperation directive against him in connection with his exit from 'Don 3', as reports of escalating tensions between the actor and filmmaker Farhan Akhtar continued to dominate industry conversations.
On Monday, FWICE stated that despite sending multiple reminders, Ranveer Singh had repeatedly failed to appear before the body to address the matter and engage in discussions regarding his exit from the project, triggering immense speculation across Bollywood as fans and producers anxiously await the actor's official side of this high-stakes legal showdown.
“While several narratives and speculations have surfaced over time, Ranveer has never considered it necessary to respond publicly or contribute to conjecture. His focus remains firmly on his work and the commitments ahead. He continues to hold deep respect and goodwill for all those involved and sincerely wishes the franchise continued success. Choosing restraint and grace in moments like these has always been a conscious decision on his part, and he will continue to maintain the same stance,” the spokesperson concluded.
At a press conference, FWICE Chief Advisor and Indian Film and Television Directors' Association President Ashoke Pandit laid out the sequence of events that led to the federation’s decision. Pandit traced the issue back to April 11, when Farhan Akhtar first approached FWICE with a formal complaint against Ranveer Singh. Pandit further revealed that the complaint alleged Ranveer had pulled out of Don 3 just three weeks before the shooting unit was set to depart, causing major disruption to the project.
Following standard procedure, FWICE invited producers Ritesh Sidhwani and Farhan Akhtar to present their side of the story. While Sidhwani attended the meeting in person, Farhan joined virtually from London. Pandit made it clear that FWICE had followed due process and made every effort to hear both parties before arriving at a decision.
With the actor failing to make a formal appearance or offer any resolution, FWICE deliberated internally before arriving at its final decision.
FWICE President BN Tiwari emphasised that the issue went far beyond a personal disagreement between an actor and a producer and directly affected the livelihoods of thousands of film industry workers.
“When a film is made, thousands of workers get employment. When a film suddenly stops, junior artists and daily wage workers also suffer financial losses,” Tiwari said.
“A strong message needs to be sent to the industry. Even if someone is a superstar, they are not above the rules and regulations,” he said.
Making the federation’s decision official, Tiwari confirmed that FWICE had issued a non-cooperation directive against Ranveer Singh with immediate effect, urging all affiliated craft and producer bodies to stand in solidarity with the move until the matter is formally resolved.
“The Federation issues a non-cooperation directive against Ranveer starting right now, and none of our members will work with him,” Tiwari declared.
Ranveer Singh’s spokesperson issues statement on ‘Don 3’ controversy
Now, Ranveer’s official spokesperson has issued a statement saying, “Ranveer Singh holds the highest regard for the film fraternity and for everyone associated with the Don franchise. Throughout the recent developments surrounding Don 3, he has consciously chosen to maintain silence, believing that professional discussions and personal equations are best handled with dignity, maturity and mutual respect.”“While several narratives and speculations have surfaced over time, Ranveer has never considered it necessary to respond publicly or contribute to conjecture.
FWICE issues non-cooperation directive against Ranveer Singh over ‘Don 3’ exit
More than five months after Farhan Akhtar reportedly filed a formal complaint against Ranveer Singh for walking out of Don 3, FWICE on Monday announced a non-cooperation directive against the actor, marking a major development in the ongoing row between the two.At a press conference, FWICE Chief Advisor and Indian Film and Television Directors' Association President Ashoke Pandit laid out the sequence of events that led to the federation’s decision.
Ranveer Singh ignored three formal notices sent by FWICE over ‘Don 3’ row
Pandit revealed that FWICE had sent three formal notices to Ranveer Singh, none of which reportedly received a response. He added that it was only after the federation announced the press conference that Ranveer’s team finally reached out via email, questioning FWICE’s jurisdiction in the matter and asserting that the federation had no grounds to intervene in the dispute.
FWICE says even a superstar is not above industry rules and regulations
Tiwari stressed that FWICE represents a wide cross-section of the industry, including technicians, artists, and producers, and does not take sides in disputes. He added that no amount of fame or stardom exempts anyone from following industry rules and regulations.“A strong message needs to be sent to the industry.
