Haider: Bollywood gives a thumbs up to Shahid and Shraddha's film

According to a Mumbai Mirror report, an Imam from Srinagar has threatened to take Vishal Bharadwaj to court over the use of footage featuring him in Haider. The film, which was shot in Kashmir, has a scene which depicts the nikah ceremony of Tabu and Kay Kay Menon and according to the report, Ghulam Hassan Shah of Kund has claimed that he has been featured in it. The report further states that four months after the film's release, Shah has sent a legal notice to the director claiming that he was tricked into becoming a part of the film. He was quoted saying that he was told the footage featuring him will be used for educational purposes, but it was used in the film instead. Shah claimed that he has lost his job for solemnising the marriage of Tabu and Kay Kay in the film, and he is now demanding 50 lakh rupees in compensation or an apology in national press for "defaming" him in the movie, the report mentioned.

Haider is set against the backdrop of unrest in the Kashmir valley and revolves around a guy called Haider who wants to avenge his father's murder at the hands of his uncle. An adaptation of William Shakespeare's play Hamlet, the film stars Shraddha Kapoor as Shahid's love interest. The film became a hit in B-town. Shraddha Kapoor has been receiving immense love and praise from the industry for her performance in the film and the response to Shahid Kapoor’s performance too, has been phenomenal.

Ever the one to support budding talent, Amitabh Bachchan was oresent for the special screening of the film and had very nice things to say about the actress. Bachchan took to Twitter to applaud the movie. "Haider: a special film.. exceptional performances .. and such an intelligent adaptation.. !!" the 71-year-old actor tweeted. Apart from that, Ayushmann Khurrana who was equally excited having watched the film, tweeted, “Watched #Haider. Vishal sir take a bow! @ShraddhaKapoor is so natural & pretty in the film! And what a legendary act by @shahidkapoor! Woot”

While Irrfan Khan who is himself a part of the film tweeted, “Shraddha is ethereal in @Haidermovie. She looks as if she was born in Kashmir. And What brilliant performance .” He also tweeted for Shahid, "@shahidkapoor in haider doesn't emerge as n actor he rather erupts with tremendous force. A new chapter begins from here onwards."
