Kangana Ranaut is all about shattering the glass ceiling and pushing the boundaries of what an actress can do in Bollywood. Now, if reports are to be believed, then the star has added another feather in her cap.

According to reports, Kangana will be walking the red carpet the Cannes film festival this year. It will mark the actress’ debut at the prestigious event and she will apparently be the brand ambassador and their representative of Indian cinema. However, an official confirmation is awaited from either party.

Meanwhile, the actress is currently busy with her period film 'Manikarnika: The Queen of Jhansi' whose release has now been pushed back from the initial date of April 27th.

Kangana Ranaut's next role is reportedly that of a Gujarati NRI in Hansal Mehta's next film titled 'Simran'. According to reports her character in the film has her struggling with American culture. Director Hansal Mehta has reportedly drawn an exhaustive list of Gujarati films including ‘Chello Divas,’ ‘Amari Duniya Tamari Duniya,’ ‘Mehendi Rang Lagyo’ and ‘Maa Baap Na Aashirwaad’ for her to watch to get a hang of the (Gujarati) milieu and accent. Kangana Ranaut, known to be a stalwart performer, seems to be in for a Gujju make-over. The filming will reportedly begin in June this year and span 70 days. Kangana Ranaut: Glad Salman suggested my name for 'Katti Batti'

Kangana Ranaut, who is awaiting the release of Katti Batti, says she is glad that Salman Khan suggested her name for the film, reports IANS. Kangana, along with her Katti Batti co-star Imran Khan, was present at a radio station to promote their film. On being asked how Salman convinced her to play the role of Payal in Katti Batti, Kangana was said, "He (Salman) didn't have to convince me... but he called me to tell me about the script of Katti Batti. I'm glad that he did that because after Queen, I was flooded with offers for women-centric films, and I was giving them priority as well. I don't think I would have given it a thought." She said that since Salman is her friend and she trusts him, when he asked her to hear the script, she agreed. And after hearing the script in one second she said 'yes', the report concluded.

Kangana Ranaut to play a real-life bank robber?

Kangana Ranaut was seen as a dacoit in Revolver Rani. And the actress' next titled Simran is apparently inspired by an Indian-origin bank robber in the US, reports Mid-day.com. The report quoted sources as saying that the film, directed by Hansal Mehta, is inspired by the exploits of an Indian-origin nurse who earned the moniker 'Bombshell Bandit' for a spate of robberies in the US. The film will go on floors in October, the report stated.

It seems that actress Kangana Ranaut has found a new fan in Bollywood superstar Salman Khan. Filmmaker Nikhil Advani says Salman suggested Kangana's name for his forthcoming film Katti Batti.

"Salman loved the script as soon as he heard it and suggested that Kangana would be the perfect fit for Payal's character. Later that night, Salman called Kangana, who was in New York and told her that Payal's character was tailor made for her. As soon as Kangana got back in town we took things forward," Mr Advani said in a statement, reports IANS.

Kangana Ranaut’s Tanu Weds Manu Returns has crossed the Rs 100 crore mark at the box-office and now the actress has been approached to play the female lead in Sultan opposite Salman Khan, reports Pinkvilla.com. Ali Abbas Zafar of Gunday fame will be directing this film, which is being produced by Yash Raj Films. Salman will be seen playing a boxer in the film.
