How convincingly the Bollywood heartthrob Ranbir Kapoor transforms into the ‘Munna Bhai’ of Bollywood in an effortless-yet-brilliant way makes the teaser worth the wait. The film boasts of a huge star cast including Anushka Sharma, Sonam Kapoor, Dia Mirza, Manisha Koirala, Paresh Rawal and many others. The ‘Sanju’ teaser pulls attention to how brilliantly actor Ranbir Kapoor has stepped into the shoes of Sanjay Dutt and made them his own. Rajkumar Hirani has written the screenplay of this Sanjay Dutt biopic and has knit together several bits and pieces of his controversial life. The ‘Sanju’ teaser throws light on his life from his initial ‘Rocky’ days which was followed by his drug-addict days to his on and off jail stay makes it all the more interesting. Weaving around his ‘Munna Bhai’ period in his career to his several celebrity link-ups – the teaser hints at much more. While co-producer Vidhu Vinod Chopra mentioned how he was himself very surprised on discovering several unknown truths of Sanjay Dutt’s life, Rajkumar Hirani claimed that the film tells different tales of friendship, a father-son relationship and much more which are not known to his fans at all.

Filmmaker Rajkumar Hirani has delivered some of the biggest blockbusters in the history of Bollywood. The man known for invading unheard territories and delivering biggest box-office game changers like ‘PK’, ‘3 Idiots’, ‘Munna Bhai M.B.B.S.’ and ‘Lage Raho Munna Bhai’, the director tries his hands at a biopic of an active celebrity of the same industry. His interesting way of joining the dots of Sanjay Dutt’s life by comparing the highest peaks and lowest points of his controversial life in an entertaining manner is clearly visible in the ‘Sanju’ teaser. The filmmaker has put together the most varied disparities ranging from the financial situations to the physical transformations in his life.

Sanjay Dutt feared for lung failure due to his drug addiction and having 308 girlfriends make for a rich story which would also throw light on his several high-profile link-ups, the details of his involvement in the 1993 Mumbai bomb blasts and his relationship with his parents and late legendary actors Sunil Dutt and Nargis. Vidhu Vinod Chopra has already made it clear ahead of the teaser launch that Sanjay Dutt has shared several surprising secrets of his life and given them a clear indication to reveal them all to the world.

What keeps the viewer intrigued is Ranbir Kapoor’s striking similarity with the real Sanjay Dutt. If not careful, one can even pass him off as the real Dutt in few scenes. Ranbir Kapoor, with the help of the make-up artists, has managed to adopt the right look and body language required to recreate the ‘Bhoomi’ actor.

A leak of Sanjay Dutt’s look during the making of the film had made the cine lovers anxious about what is to come. As revealed by Rajkumar Hirani, Sanjay Dutt had jokingly reacted on watching a clip from the film that it was a bad news for him and requested him not to cast Ranbir in the next Munna Bhai sequel owing to his striking similarity with the actor. What remains to be seen is will the other star cast including Sonam Kapoor, Manisha Koirala, Paresh Rawal and many more will have such striking similarity to their real counterparts?
