Huma Qureshi’s first look from the upcoming Yash starrer ‘Toxic: A Fairy Tale for Grown-Ups’ has been unveiled as she will be seen playing the role of Elizabeth. Director Geetha Mohandas recently shared why she chose the ‘Maharani’ actor for this powerful role.

A tough casting choice

As per a report by IANS, director Geetu Mohandas revealed that casting for the role of Elizabeth was not easy. She shared that the character needs someone with very strong acting skills and a big screen presence. She shared that Huma Qureshi has both these things and the time she saw her in the frame, I could see that she has something rare. He further mentioned that she carries sophistication and intensity, which brought the character alive.

“The character demanded a performer with high octane caliber and an undeniable presence," she said.

She also praised Huma Qureshi for being an actor who questions the makers, probes and challenges the artistic interpretation of the role. She said, "She has always been known as a powerhouse of talent, but this performance will mark as a turning point for the arrival of an undeniable, commanding new presence on celluloid.”

Huma Qureshi’s character, Elizabeth, shows her in a dark setting. She is seen donning a classic black dress and she is standing in front of a vintage black car. The background of the film shows her in a thunderous atmosphere with some dark clouds, in a graveyard background with a winged woman’s sad statue.Speaking about the film, the movie is a gangster period drama, which marks the much-anticipated return of Kannada superstar Yash after his massive hit, ‘KGF 2’. The movie stars Yash along with multiple female stars, including Kiara Advani, Nayanthara, Huma Qureshi and is likely to star Rukmini Vasanth and Tara Sutaria.The movie is announced to release on March 19, 2026.
