Sudeep and Vijayalakshmi Darshan’s public remarks ignite fresh fan wars online

Kannada cinema has seen another fan clash triggered by public comments from Kannada star Sudeep and Darshan’s wife, Vijayalakshmi. At the Hubli pre-release event for his film Mark, Sudeep said an “army is preparing for war” and declared he’s “ready for war,” which many fans interpreted as a veiled message about fan rivalries and online negativity surrounding his film promotions. Sudeep later clarified that his words were aimed at piracy and online sabotage, not directly at other fan groups, and affirmed he’s prepared to take strict action to protect his film.

Meanwhile in Davangere, after the release of The Devil, Vijayalakshmi responded to ongoing online debates about Darshan and his supporters by saying some people speak loudly about him only in his absence and disappear when he is present — a remark widely seen as a retort to critics.

These exchanges have ignited fervent debates on social media, with supporters of both stars defending their favourites and sharing clips and memes. Some fans are analysing every word while others worry whether such buzz helps or distracts from the films’ box office success.
