Filmfare Awards South 2022: Here are the 8 Malayalam movies nominated for best film

The most prestigious award function, Filmfare Awards South for this year is all set to be held on October 9 at 4:30 pm and the function will be held at the Bangalore International Exhibition Centre. The prestigious award will be conferred upon the best of the movies, actors, and technical talents from the films released in all four languages between the years 2020 and 2021. ‘Ayyappanum Koshiyum’ has already shined at the 68th National Film Awards as it bagged the awards for the categories best director, best-supporting actor, best playback singer, best action direction, and best stunt choreography. The late director Sachy’s action entertainer ‘Ayyappanum Koshiyum’ is also nominated for the best film race at the Filmfare Awards South this year.

One of the best crime thriller movies in Malayalam, ‘Anjaam Paathiraa’ is also competing for the best film award at the Filmfare Awards 2022. D’Anjaam Paathiraa’ was written and directed by the renowned director Midhun Manuel Thomas and had the actors Kunchacko Boban, Sharafudheen, Unnimaya Prasad, Sreenath Bhasi, and Jinu Joseph in pivotal roles.

The next nomination for the best film category at Filmfare Awards 2022 is the action drama movie ‘Malik’ which was directed by Mahesh Narayanan. Actors Fahadh Faasil, Nimisha Sajayan, Meenakshi Raveendran, and Dileesh Pothan played significant characters in the movie.

The critically acclaimed movie ‘The Great Indian Kitchen’ is the next contender for the best film award at Filmfare Awards South 2022. The film starring Suraj Venjaramoodu, and Nimisha Sajayan received many positive responses from both critics and audiences for its content matter and execution style along with the terrific director by Jeo Baby.

Mollywood’s own superhero ‘Minnal Mrali’ also competes for the best film race at the Filmfare Awards. Starring Tovino Thomas, Guru Somasundaram, Femina George, Arya Salim, and Sneha Babu in the lead, ‘Minnal Murali’ is indeed one of the perfect superhero movies in India. All thanks to the renowned director Basil Joseph for executing such a unique idea.

The second part of the most loved thriller film ‘Drishyam’, also gained much appreciation from the audiences and most of them even said that the sequel stands above the first part. The film was directed by Jeethu Joseph and the actors Mohanlal, Meena, Esther Anil, and Ansiba Hassan played the lead characters in this thriller movie.

The Fahadh Faasil starrer ‘Joji’ is the perfect example of showing that creativity never ends even if the whole world is affected by the pandemic. Shot during the extreme situation of the pandemic, ‘Joji’ perfectly utilizes its limited setting to tell a very thrilling and dark story. Fahadh Faasil’s performance is surely the highlight of this film directed by Dileesh Pothan.

Kunchacko Boban - Joju George starrer ‘Nayattu’ broke all the cliches on how to de route from the audience's thinking level, especially during the climax portion that ends on a sad note. Packed with a strong script and equally good execution, ‘Nayattu’ stands high as one of the best movies in Mollywood and is surely one of the nominees for the best film race at the Filmfare Awards South this year.
