'Lokah': Dulquer reveals Mammootty's as ‘Moothon’; Kalyani Priyadarshan says, 'His aura was what it always is'

On Mammootty’s 74th birthday, Dulquer Salmaan and his production house gave fans the gift they had been waiting for—a confirmation that the legendary actor indeed played the mysterious role of ‘Moothon’ in Lokah.

The special poster, captioned “Happy Birthday Moothon,” settled months of speculation. In the film, the character had only a fleeting cameo: a single line of dialogue, a hand in focus, and a voice that left audiences intrigued but never revealed the face.







With Dulquer’s announcement, fans now know the mystery man was none other than Mammootty himself.

Kalyani Priyadarshan’s emotional note

Joining in the celebration, actress Kalyani Priyadarshan shared the same poster, along with a behind-the-scenes photo featuring Mammootty. Her caption painted a vivid picture of the day he surprised the Lokah team on set as it reads,“I remember the day he walked onto our set as a surprise. I think all of us instantly dropped anything in our hands the moment we saw him. I was jealous of the boys who managed to grab pictures with him, while I was stuck in costume and couldn’t. While we were all so tense, his aura was what it always is (light, funny, effortless). That’s just the kind of person he is—someone who inspires without trying, and reminds you what it means to be human. I just hope with this film, we’ve made him proud. Happy birthday to our Moothon.”

‘Lokah: Chapter 1 – Chandra’ continues its dream run

Meanwhile, 'Lokah: Chapter 1 – Chandra' has become the season’s biggest success story, riding high on Onam festivities. According to early trade estimates by the Sacnilk website, the fantasy drama has collected more than Rs 82.6 crore across languages in just 11 days. After closing its first week with Rs 54.7 crore, the film enjoyed a powerful second weekend.

On Day 11 (Sunday), it added Rs 10.25 crore India net, with Malayalam leading the pack at Rs 7.5 crore. With strong word-of-mouth and now Mammootty’s cameo revelation, 'Lokah' looks set to climb even higher.
