Ramya Pandian: Here’s all you need to know about Mammootty’s ‘Nanpakal Nerathu Mayakkam’ heroine

Ramya Pandian, the Indian actress who majorly worked in Tamil-language films is now making her debut in the Malayalam film industry with the Mammootty starrer film ‘Nanpakal Nerathu Mayakkam’ which is directed by the most renowned director Lijo Jose Pellissery. The film ‘Nanpakal Nerathu Mayakkam’ has lots of specialties as it’s a dream-come-true moment for film lovers to see two of the master craftsmen in the film industry Mammootty and Lijo Jose Pellissery working together for a film. And now a recent update made on the film that the Tamil actress Ramya Pandian was roped in to play a major female lead in the film has created a huge buzz on social media. Actress Ramya Pandian started her acting career in the Tamil film ‘Dummy Tappasu’ which was directed by O.S Ravi and was released in the year 2015. The film was categorized as a romantic comedy film and actress Ramya Pandian shared screen space with the Malayalam actor Praveen Prem who was famous for his role in the Malayalam films ‘Kadha Thudarunnu’, ‘Tournament-Play & Replay’, etc. Ramya Pandian played a role named ‘Sowmiya’ in the film.

Although actress Ramya Pandian is known for her film roles, before getting into acting she was a contestant for a popular Tamil cooking reality show and secured the 2nd Runner-up award. She has also become the judge for several Tamil reality shows and in the year 2020 actress Ramya Pandian was listed by ‘Chennai Times’ as the ‘Most desirable woman on television 2020’.

After making it big in the Tamil industry, actress Ramya Pandian got an opportunity to work with the renowned director Mani Ratnam’s assistant Shelley for a short film which was named ‘Maane Theyne Ponmaane’. This short film really helped her in realizing her acting potential and later she did a major role in the Tamil film ‘Joker’ which was actually a Kickstarter in her career.

Ramya Pandian has acted in the Tamil drama film ‘Raame Aandalum Raavane Aandalum’ which was produced by Tamil actor Surya. In one of the interviews, she says that she is a huge fan of Surya. She also adds by saying that when the audition call for the film ‘Raame Aandalum Raavane Aandalum’ was advertised on papers, she immediately sent her acting portfolio to the film team and didn’t get a positive response from them. She later participated in the film audition and her acting video was sent to the producer of the film Surya itself. She was on cloud nine when he said that he actually liked her performance and immediately got selected for the project. She played a major female lead in the film ‘Raame Aandalum Raavane Aandalum’.

Actress Ramya Pandian secured her Bachelor’s degree in Biomedical Engineering from the College of Engineering, Guindy which is affiliated with Anna University. After graduation, she worked as a Research and Development Analyst and was later promoted to the position of Business development manager.

Ramya Pandian is the daughter of the Tamil director Durai Pandian who is famous for directing the film ‘Uzhiyan’ which was released in the year1994 and Ramya Pandian is the niece of the actor Arun Pandian who helmed a major role in the film ‘Uzhiyan’.

In one of the interviews, Ramya Pandian opened up on her experience working in her debut Malayalam film ‘Nanpakal Nerathu Mayakkam’. And she said that actor Mammootty and the director’s team of the film had already watched her film ‘Joker’ and she was called upon to act in ‘Nanpakal Nerathu Mayakkam’ seeing her flawless performance in the film. She added by saying that Mammootty mentioned that the director’s team wanted to cast her in one of their previous films but unfortunately that didn’t happen. She considers it to be a dream-come-true moment to share screen space with the legendary actor Mammootty and to work with the most renowned director Lijo Jose Pellissery.
