Mohanlal - Mahendra Varma

In the political thriller film ‘Bhoomiyile Rajakkanmar’, Mohanlal plays a minister character named Mahendra Varma. The head of an influential royal family demands the chief minister to make Mahendra Varma a politician. Things go awry as Mahendra Varma decides to work for the welfare of the poor after getting to power. ‘Bhoomiyile Rajakkanmar’ was directed by Thampi Kannanthanam under the script penned down by Dennis Joseph.

Mammootty - Kadakkal Chandran

Mammootty played the Chief Minister character Kadakkal Chandran in the political thriller film ‘One’. The character had a lot of references to the Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan. Although the Santhosh Vishwanath directorial film received mixed responses from the audience, Mammootty got much appreciation for his acting prowess as the character Kadakkal Chandran. The film was scripted by the duo Bobby-Sanjay.

Biju Menon - Maamachan

Having all the features necessary for a politician such as crookedness, brevity, and humor, Biju Menon’s political character Maamachan in the Jibu Jacob’s directorial film ‘Vellimoonga’ has earned many fans among the audience. The political comedy film was a humongous hit during the time of its release and the film also featured the actors Aju Varghese, Nikki Galrani, Siddique, and Lena in pivotal roles.

Nivin Pauly - Sakhavu Krishnan & Krishnakumar

In Sidharth Siva’s directorial film ‘Sakhavu’, actor Nivin Pauly played dual political character roles named Sakhavu Krishnan and Krishnakumar. Both these characters have a huge contrast as Krishnakumar is a ruthless youth wing’s leader and Sakhavu Krishnan is a man of values who stood for the rights of people. The plot develops as Krishnakumar gets to know the past of Sakhavu Krishnan and understands that the real idea behind politics is to serve people and not merely to gain power.

Dileep - Ramanunni

In the political thriller film ‘Ramaleela’, Dileep essayed the political character named Ramanunni who gets wrongly convicted by the police for the murder of the opposition leader. The plot develops as Ramanunni tries to unravel the mystery behind the death of his political opponent. The film was directed by Arun Gopy under the script penned by the late writer-director Sachy.

Dulquer Salmaan - Aji Mathew

Dulquer Salmaan played a strong communist character named Aji Mathew in Amal Neerad’s directorial film ‘Comrade in America’. One day Aji realizes that his lover Sarah is leaving India and moving to America and Sarah requests him to do the same. Aji denies the request as he was not willing to leave his motherland. The story progresses as Aji decides to go to America and meet his lover for one last time. ‘CIA’ also featured the actors Maniyanpilla Raju, Karthika Muralidharan, Siddique, and Soubin Shahir.

Sreenivasan - ‘Cuba’ Mukundan

Sreenivasan’s political character ‘Cuba’ Mukundan from the Lal Jose’s directorial venture ‘Arabikkatha’ is a hardcore communist who constantly pits against those businessmen whose illegal business activities are creating mishaps to the lives of the poor. The corrupt politician Karunan plays behind Mukundan’s back in favor of the businessman named Kunjunni Muthalali and makes Mukundan leave India and take up a job in Dubai. The film clicked with the audience due to its subject matter and due to the terrific performance of Sreenivasan as the character ‘Cuba’ Mukundan.
