Nithya Menen quashes marriage rumours
Actress Nithya Menen recently made headlines, after her marriage rumours did rounds. According to some media reports, the actress was allegedly planning to enter wedlock with a popular Malayalam actor. Soon after the rumours came out, Nithya Menen herself refuted the rumours and also bashed those media houses for cooking up stories.

Musician Vaikom Vasudevan G Namboothiri no more
Renowned Carnatic musician Vaikom Vasudevan G Namboothiri passed away on July 19. He was 86. His final rites were carried out at his residence Pulinchuvadu Tharamel Madathil in Vaikom, Kerala. Vaikom Vasudevan G Namboothiri has also acted in two movies - ‘Ananda Bhairavi’ and, ‘Oru Kuprasidha Payyan’.

HC warns survivor for raising baseless allegations against the trial court
The Kerala High Court on Friday (July 22), warned the survivor in the 2017 Actress assault and abduction case not to pass out baseless allegations without any proof, against the trial court which is considering the case. The survivor had filed a petition, stating that she fears the case is being manipulated by the investigation team. The HC also reportedly added that the survivor would have to face strict action if such baseless charges are made against the lower court.

Raj Mohan no more
Yesteryear actor Raj Mohan, who is best known for the 1967 release ‘Indulekha’ passed away on July 16. He has been living in an old age home for the past four years, and was admitted to a state-run hospital earlier this month. Raj Mohan was the son-in-law of yesteryear's popular figure Kalanilayam Krishnan Nair who had drama troupes, and produced and directed Malayalam films.

Big win for Malayalam cinema at the 68th National Film Awards
The 68th National Film Awards were announced this Friday (July 22), and talents from Malayalam cinema bagged some of the top honour. Sachy won the award for Best Direction for the film ‘Ayyappanum Koshiyum’ posthumously. Aparna Balamurali bagged the Best Actress award for her Tamil film ‘Soorarai Pottru’, and Biju Menon won the Best Supporting Actor award for his performance in ‘Ayyappanum Koshiyum’. ‘Thinkalazhcha Nishchayam’ won the award for Best Malayalam Film. Nanjamma won the Best Playback singer award for ‘Ayyappanum Koshiyum’.
