Week that was! Dulquer Salmaan, Mukesh, Vinod Guruvayoor, celebs who made headlines

It was a busy week for M-Town. Most of the celebrities are occupied with their upcoming films. From Dulquer Salmaan’s two projects - ‘Othira Kadakam’ and ‘King of Kotha’, to actor Mukesh and wife Methil Devika parting ways, to filmmaker Vinod Guruvayoor announcing a casting call for vehicles, here’s who and what made headlines in M-Town this week.

Dulquer Salmaan will be headlining ‘King of Kotha’. The upcoming film is helmed by veteran filmmaker Joshiy’s son Abhilash. Abhilash N Chandran is the scriptwriter of the film. Dulquer Salmaan himself is producing the project under the banner of his own production house, Wayfarer Films.

Actor-MLA Mukesh and wife dancer Methil Devika are parting ways. There were rumours that the duo are heading for a divorce and Methil Devika recently confirmed the same. Speaking to the media she confessed that she has filed a divorce petition and also added that the separation is because of ‘personal’ reasons. She also dismissed rumours about domestic violence.

Dulquer Salmaan has signed to play the lead in Soubin Shahir’s directorial ‘Othiram Kadakam’. “I've always known Soubi to have a fab aesthetic and a keen sense of cinema. When he told me his idea for Parava I knew I had to be a part of it in some way! I knew in my gut he would make a special film,” Dulquer Salmaan said announcing the film. Soubin has earlier directed Dulquer in his debut directorial ‘Parava’.

Pradeep Chokli has announced a film based on the life of Anannyah Kumari Alex, a 27-year-old trans woman from Kerala, who recently passed away due to suicide. The makers have also decided to cast a trans person to play the role of the late Ananyah. The upcoming film will apparently track the life and struggles of late Ananyah.

Malayalam filmmaker Vinod Guruvayoor recently announced a casting call for automobiles for his upcoming film ‘Prathi Pranayathilanu’. The filmmaker was looking for a vehicle that is about 20-30 years old. “We were looking for a camper van. A Matador van, similar to the vintage Volkswagen microbus. The vehicle plays a pivotal role in the film. It is an important character, as the hero and his gang travel in this particular vehicle. So when our attempts to find a vehicle weren’t fruitful, I thought ``why don’t I announce a casting call?” Vinod Guruvayoor said in an exclusive interview with ETimes.
