#Whatif: ‘The Hangover’ was made in Mollywood

“You spin my head right round, right round”… oh hey guys welcome back. sorry, I couldn’t get over the hangover due to the party last night and the party song is still echoing in my mind. Today your travel guide Simon is a bit depressed as I couldn’t tag him along for the party last night. But I have a wonderful idea, I have grabbed a ticket into the world of the Hollywood entertainer movie ‘The Hangover’ and look into the possibilities of the movie being remade in Mollywood. It’s a perfect universe to have all the fun you want and cheer up your travel guide Simon. So get ready and buckle up as Etimes presents the eighth episode of the #Whatif series.

#Whatif 'The Conjuring' was made in Mollywood

#Simon says, “Hey guys!! I heard you have the ticket to one of the most fun movies ever made in Hollywood, ‘The Hangover’. I couldn’t wait to enter the realm and party hard till the day ends. Ready your tickets guys, let’s enter the realm of #Whatif: ‘The Hangover’ was made in Mollywood.

Possibility 1: Phil as Dulquer Salmaan

#Simon says, “Phil, the stylish handsome character in ‘The Hangover ’ is one of the smartest ones in the film. The Malayalam actor Dulquer Salmaan whom we can attribute to the title ‘Party man’ would be perfect for the role of ‘Phil’ in the Mollywood remake and we will probably see the Hollywood version of the song ‘Johny Mone Johny’ featuring Dulquer Salmaan rocking his dance moves.”

Possibility 2: Alan as Sekhar Menon

#Simon says, “Alan is the most trustable and innocent character in ‘The Hangover’ and looking at the innocence of the character, the Malayalam actor Sekhar Menon would be perfect for the role. We have all seen the Dulquer- Sekhar duo in the film ‘100 Days of Love’, although the film was received with mixed responses, their duo was well-received among the audience. So for a party kind of film like ‘The Hangover ’, Dulquer Salmaan and Sekhar Menon would be the perfect choice to be cast in the Mollywood remake.”

Possibility 3: The end credit scene censored

#Simon says, “We all know that the end credit scene of the film ‘The Hangover ’ is the most hilarious scene in the movie. But we can’t take away the fact that the scenes are filled with explicit content which is a big no from the Indian censor board. Sorry guys in the Malayalam remake of ‘The Hangover’ you won’t get to see the hilarious end credit scene and the movie will end as usual with the credits rolling.”

Possibility 4: Stu as Nivin Pauly

#Simon says, “Stu, a sensible and innocent fellow among the friend’s gang in ‘The Hangover ’ is one of the hilarious characters in the movie. Looking at the acting of the Malayalam actor Nivin Pauly in the comedy-entertainer movie ‘Bangalore Days’, he could be a perfect replacement for Stu, who was played by the Hollywood actor Ed Helms.”

Possibility 5: Doug as Sarjano Khalid

#Simon says, “The Hollywood actor Justin Bartha plays the character of Doug and the most engaging part of ‘The Hangover ’ movie kick starts when the Doug character, who is about to get married, goes missing. In the Mollywood remake of ‘The Hangover ‘, the Doug character will perfectly suit the young and talented actor Sarjano Khalid. As Sarjano Khalid hasn’t performed in the lead of any commercial entertainer movies, this could be a perfect entry for the actor to explore a new style of acting.”

Possibility 6: Story set in Goa

#Simon says, “The story of ‘The Hangover’ is set in Las Vegas otherwise known as ‘Sin city’. In most Indian movies the so-called ‘Sin city’ is none other than Goa. So most probably the Malayalam remake of ‘The Hangover’ will be set in Goa aka ‘The Tourist Paradise’.”

Possibility 7: Mike Tyson as I.M Vijayan

#Simon says, “The former American professional boxer Mike Tyson plays a major role in ‘The Hangover’ as a gangster leader. For the Malayalam remake of ‘The Hangover’, the former football player I.M Vijayan could reprise the role flawlessly. We have also seen I.M Vijayan as a gangster in the Mammootty starrer film ‘The Great Father’.”

Possibility 8: The wedding scene- ‘Thudakkam Mangalyam’

#Simon says, “The movie ‘The Hangover’ ends with the wedding of the character Doug in the presence of his best friends Alan, Phil and Stu. When it comes to the Malayalam remake you can't expect this scene to end without a catchy wedding song where all of the major characters will possibly dance to the song ‘Thudakkam Mangalyam Thanthunananena’.”

#Simon says, “We have seen a Malayalam film which was similar to the Hollywood movie ‘The Hangover’ which was titled ‘China Town’. But the film could be marked as a poor attempt although it had some good laughable moments. Remaking a film like ‘The Hangover’ that has lots of explicit scenes and use of adult language, in Malayalam would be a bit risky. Either the director Lal Jr. or even Omar Lulu can try for a Malayalam remake of the film. Anyway in this travel, we have seen the close possibilities that could happen if ‘The Hangover’ was remade in Mollywood. See you next time with a more exciting episode of #Whatif. Till then bye.”
