From Sai Tamhankar's 'Dhurala' to Subhash Ghai's 'Vijeta': Here are FIVE Marathi films up for release in 2020

The Marathi film Industry is gaining recognition and acceptance internationally, both for its content and the performances of the actors. One of the fastest-growing regional industry in India, it offers the audience something new and unique every time. There are the number of upcoming most anticipated Marathi films from Sai Tamhankar's political drama to Subash Ghai's sports drama which are set to release in 2020. Check out the other films which will hit the screens in the coming months.

'Dhurala'

Marathi cinema's eminent filmmaker Sameer Vidwans' last released blockbuster film 'Anandi Gopal' a biopic of India's first lady doctor has garnered an immense appreciation from not just the critics but also the film fraternity gaining a thumbs up from celebrities. Now, the filmmaker is all set to show his prowess with his upcoming film, political drama 'Dhurala'. Recently released teaser from the film has already created a buzz in social media. It features stars like Ankush Chaudhari, Amey Wagh, Umesh Kamat, Prasad Oak, Sonalee Kulkarni and Sai Tamhankar in pivotal roles. The film is slated to release on 3rd January 2020.

'Vijeta'

On the occasion of the inaugural ceremony of the 12th Goa Marathi Film Festival, recently, Bollywood cinema's popular filmmaker and producer, Subhash Ghai, who is presenting the film, unveiled the first look poster of the film 'Vijeta'. It features stars like Subodh Bhave, Pooja Sawant and Tanvee Kishore in major roles. With a catchy tagline of 'My Sports: My Soil: My Magic' film's first look poster has created a buzz in social media. Produced under the banner of Subhash Ghai's Mukta Arts Limited also produced by Rahul Puri. The film is slated to release Jan 24, 2020.

'Dagdi Chawl 2'

Director Chandrakant Kanse made his directorial debut with the Marathi movie 'Dagdi Chawl' (2015), inspired — if that's the word — by the story of gangster-turned-politician Arun Gawli. Now, the makers have officially announced the second part of the movie in a unique way. Deshpande, along with the film’s producer Sangeeta Ahir and Gawli’s wife Asha, walked in to join the Dagdi Chawl Navratri celebration on Navami day, 7 October. Along with Deshpande, Dagdi Chawl starred Ankush Chaudhari and Pooja Sawant as lovers. The two will also be part of 'Dagdi Chawl 2'. The film is confirmed for release in 2020, but the makers are yet to announce the final release date.

'Bali'

After impressing the audience with his performance in 'Mumbai-Pune-Mumbai 3', Swwapnil Joshi is now all geared up to star in his first horror flick 'Bali'. Recently, the 'Mitwaa' star took to his Instagram handle to unveil the first look poster from the film. The film 'Bali' will be helmed by Marathi cinema's popular filmmaker Vishal Furia who made his debut in Marathi cinema with the horror film 'Lapachhapi'. The film is slated to release in 2020.

'Goshta Eka Paithanichi'

Sayali Sanjeev, the latest sweet sensation has moved out to movies with bigger steps. A known face for quite a long time on the television and in every home, this young talented actress garbs a huge social media presence and fan following. The diva has come a way from television to quite several movies which are slotted to be released soon like 'Satarcha Salman', 'Manmauji', 'Jimma', 'AB aani CD'. But this time, Sayali Sanjeev comes forth and surprises in a completely new avatar that reminds us of the classic heroines of Indian Cinema in the upcoming Marathi film “Gosht Eka Paithanichi “. She shall play the lead opposite Suvrat Joshi of fame 'Dil Dosti Duniyadaari'. It features stars like Suvrat Joshi, Mrinal Kulkarni, Milind Gunaji, Shashank Ketkar in pivotal roles. The film is slated to release in 2020.
