'Taj Mahal: An Eternal Love Story' showcased at private screening in Indonesia
An exclusive private screening of Akbar Khan’s Taj Mahal: An Eternal Love Story took place at XXI Epicentrum in Jakarta, Indonesia, bringing together an elite assembly of ambassadors, high commissioners, diplomats, leading corporate figures, hedge fund leaders and prominent industrialists. Hosted by the Embassy of India, the refined cultural evening underscored the film’s growing international stature and concluded with a thunderous round of applause and an overwhelming standing ovation from the audience.
The screening was attended by renowned Indonesian entrepreneur Chairul Tanjung, one of the country’s most influential business leaders, who arrived with his wife, Ibu Anita Tanjung. Chairul Tanjung was warmly received by filmmaker Akbar Khan, with the two seen exchanging greetings ahead of the screening. Their presence added considerable stature to an evening already marked by exceptional goodwill and appreciation, culminating in sustained applause following the film.
His Excellency Sandeep Chakravorty, Ambassador of India to Indonesia, and his wife, Dr Taruna Chakravorty, hosted the event and delivered an evocative opening address. He described the Taj Mahal as one of the wonders of the world that continues to move humanity across borders. Reflecting on its emotional resonance, he remarked that, among the many expressions associated with the Taj Mahal, it stands for the tears and shared emotions of mankind. He also welcomed the many ambassadors and international dignitaries present, underscoring the cultural significance of the occasion.
The Jakarta screening followed an earlier acclaimed private screening in Kuala Lumpur, attended by the Honourable Prime Minister of Malaysia, Anwar bin Ibrahim. Together, these events form part of a strategic international rollout ahead of the film’s global release in 2026.
Starring Zulfi Syed, Sonya Jehan, Kabir Bedi, Arbaaz Khan, Pooja Batra and others, Taj Mahal: An Eternal Love Story recounts the immortal bond between Emperor Shah Jahan and Mumtaz Mahal. The film is scheduled for its Indonesian theatrical release on 13 February 2026, aligned with Valentine’s Week, with anticipation continuing to build across the region.
