Diljit Dosanjh: Top Punjabi movies of the actor that you shouldn’t miss

Be it romantic comedies, period dramas or fantasy films Diljit Dosanjh is one of the Punjabi actors who has tried almost all the genres of Pollywood. Moreover, not has he just been a part of these genres, he has excelled in all with his performance, or perhaps by even selecting the right script. Don’t just go by our words, read about the top Punjabi movies of Diljit Dosanjh and decide by yourself.

2/6

‘Sajjan Singh Rangroot’

Released last year, ‘Sajjan Singh Rangroot’ is a period drama that had Diljit Dosanjh playing the titular role. The movie is based on a true story of the Sikh soldiers of the British Indian Army, who were sent to the Western Front during World War I. This Indian war drama also has a subplot featuring a romantic story, which simply tugs at the heartstrings. Besides, the music of the film is also one of the reasons why one should not miss it.

3/6

‘Punjab 1984’

‘Sajjan Singh Rangroot’ was not the first-period drama that Diljit Dosanjh starred in, his debut movie in the respective genre was marked by ‘Punjab 1984’. Based on the 1984–86 Punjab insurgency's impact on social life, the movie featured the story of a mother and her missing son. This Anurag Singh directorial was an attempt to show how drastically things were changed in that very period. Right from the writing to the execution to the performance of each star be it Diljit Dosanjh, Rana Ranbir or Kirron Kher, the movie has got everything at the right place.

4/6

‘Ambarsariya’

Though Diljit Dosanjh is mostly known for his romantic comedies, ‘Ámbarsariya’ is a comedy thriller he hooked the fans with. The movie made it to the silver screen in April 2017 and stared three actresses Monica Gill, Navneet Kaur Dhillon, Lauren Gottlieb opposite the ‘Pagg Wala Munda’. Diljit Dosanjh plays an undercover agent in the movie who is on a mission to save Punjab’s Prime Minister from a drug mafia who is plotting the murder of the respective political figure. The whole mystery of the plot only gets darker and deeper as the movie unfolds, and it certainly is the USP of this film.

5/6

The ‘Jatt & Juliet’ franchise

Talking about Diljit Dosanjh movies and not talking about ‘Jatt & Juliet’ and ‘Jatt & Juliet 2’ is nothing short of a crime one would not want to commit. Both the movies are the classic Punjabi romantic comedies given out by Diljit Dosanjh and Neeru Bajwa. The first installment released in 2012 and was loved so much so that the sequel of the same made it to the box office the following year in 2013 only. Packed with a cute love story and adorable ‘I hate you like I love you’ relationship goals, both the parts of ‘Jatt & Juliet’ are highly appreciated by the fans.

6/6

‘Sardaar Ji’

‘Sardaar Ji’ is one of the most loved Punjabi fantasy films. The movie stars the hit jodi of Diljit Dosanjh and Neeru Bajwa, along with Mandy Takhar who becomes the important part of the love triangle. In the movie, Diljit Dosanjh essays the role of a ghostbuster and ends up falling for a ghost only, played by Neeru Bajwa. However, later in the story he also develops a soft corner for Mandy Takhar, which leads to confusion, madness and chaos. But as they say, all’s well that ends well, the end of this Punjabi fantasy film is certain to leave you splits.
