Punjabi stars who vanished from the screen

They say once you start your career in the Punjabi film industry, there’s no looking back. However, there are a few faces that did grace the silver screen but vanished after starring in just a couple of movies. While some were blinded by the limelight, others traded their big screen dreams for a career in television. Scroll down, to see the list of Punjabi stars who have been away from the silver screen for quite a while.

Arya Babbar

Arya Babbar started his journey in Pollywood in 2010 with ‘Virsa’. After that, he did a couple of movies that earned him a lot of appreciation like ‘Yaar Anmulle’ and ‘Naughty Jatts’. In 2013, he starred in ‘Heer & Hero’, post which he took a break from cinema. Arya was then seen doing a couple of short roles in Bollywood projects. According to the reports, Arya will soon feature in another B-town project ‘Junglam’, which will also feature his father, Raj Babbar. However, we still await the day when Mr Babbar returns to Punjabi cinema.

Garry Sandhu

Garry Sandhu has given the Punjabi music industry some hit groovy tunes. He is known for his amazing lyrics, music and vocals, but how many of you know that Garry also tried his hand at acting? Well, Garry Sandhu made his acting debut in 2014 with the movie ‘Romeo Ranjha’, but post that, he faded out of the picture. Though he has been really active in the field of music and we can’t thank him enough for giving us chartbusters to groove to, we still wonder if it was one too many for Sandhu.

Monica Bedi

Remember the pretty face that stole your heart in the 2012 Punjabi movie ‘Sirphire’? Monica Bedi entered the Punjabi film industry with the film, which did a reasonably well at the box office. Later in 2014, Monica appeared in ‘Romeo Ranjha’, and it’s been a good four years since she has graced the silver screen. However, Monica didn’t bid adios to the limelight, but rather made a switch to the small screen.

Minissha Lamba

Another beautiful actress who vanished from Pollywood after a few movies was Minissha Lamba. The star made her debut in the industry with ‘Heer & Hero’ in 2012 and was last seen in ‘Double The Trouble’. Both movies were from comedy genre and were quite successful at the box office. While Minissha keeps making cameo appearances in various television shows, she is yet to feature in a full-length feature film.

Simran Kaur Mundi

The winner of 2008 Miss India Universe, Simran Kaur Mundi started her journey in Pollywood with the Gippy Grewal starrer ‘Best Of Luck’ in 2013. In 2014, she did another amazing movie ‘Mundeyan To Bachke Rahin’, which even bagged her a nomination for the Best Actress Award. However, post ‘Mundeyan To Bachke Rahin’ the actress wasn’t seen on the silver screen. Perhaps it was her many Bollywood projects keeping her busy.
