5 Telugu directors to enter Kollywood in 2022
With OTT blurring the boundary lines between several film industries in India, many filmmakers are stepping into another industry and collaborating with stars of that region. This year, 2022, will see five Telugu directors working in Tamil cinema.
Sekhar Kammula
The acclaimed Tollywood filmmaker, who is also a National Award-winner, will be making his Tamil debut with a trilingual (Tamil, Telugu and Hindi) with Dhanush, which is expected to go on floors in the second quarter of this year.
Vamshi Paidipally
Vamshi has already directed a Tamil film with the bilingual Thozha, starring Karthi and Nagarjuna. Now, he is all set to direct Vijay in his new film, #Thalapathy66, which is said to be Thalapathy's first direct Telugu film as well.
Anudeep KV
The filmmaker behind last year's comedy blockbuster Jathi Ratnalu will be directing Sivakarthikeyan in his first Telugu film, a comedy entertainer, which is also being made in Tamil, and is referred to as #SK20.
Venky Atluri
The director of Tollywood hits like Tholli Prema, Mr. Majnu and Rang De is now filming Vaathi (Sir in Telugu), a Tamil-Telugu bilingual, which has Dhanush and Samyuktha Menon in the lead roles.
Kalyan Krishna Kurasala
The director of this Sankranti release Bangarraju, starring Nagarjuna, his son Naga Chaitanya, and Ramya Krishnan, has been signed on by top Tamil production house Studio Green to do a film.
