KS Ravikumar to Vignesh Shivan: Five Kollywood directors who performed short roles which remain uncredited

There have been many stars who come to the industry as debutants and struggle hard to find even small roles in films and make a place for themselves in the industry. Actors and actresses make their entries into cinema directly as lead stars or even supporting cast by going through various screen tests taken by directors. However, directors work as assistants to top directors in the industry and develop themselves as skillful filmmakers. During those times, they also perform for short or uncredited roles in films where they can polish their directorial skills and also fill in for an actor. Likewise, here are some roles performed by five popular Kollywood directors from KS Ravikumar to Vignesh Shivan which were never noticed by the audience.

KS Ravikumar has directed nearly 43 films, and he has worked with top stars in the industry like Rajinikanth, Kamal Haasan, Vijay, Ajith and others. The director is best known for delivering comedies, action as well as thriller films. But he first worked as co-director in the film 'Pudhu Vasantham', which was directed by Vikraman. In the multi-starrer drama 'Pudhu Vasantham', KS Ravikumar appeared for a short role as a security guard, before he made his directorial debut with 'Puriyaadha Pudhir'.

AR Murugadoss made his directorial debut with the Ajith-starrer 'Dheena', and became popular with the back to back hits of 'Ramana' and 'Ghajini'. Since then, AR Murugadoss’s success has not been hidden from anyone. He has produced several Tamil films too. And while the audience might have caught glimpses of him in his own directorials as well, AR Murugadoss first appeared on the big screens in the film 'Poochudava', which was directed by Udhayasankar.

Director Perarasu is one of the best directors in delivering commercial films, and he has worked with two biggest stars Vijay and Ajith. Perarasu’s first directorial 'Thirupaachi' with Vijay was well appreciated, and the director earned a place for himself. Perarasu has worked for almost eight years as an assistant to prepare himself. Perarasu appeared for a comedy scene along with Goundamani in 'Ethirum Pudhirum', which was directed by Dharani.

Vetrimaaran is one of the successful directors in the industry, and has never failed the fans' expectations. Vetrimaaran has mostly worked with Dhanush and gave blockbuster hits. However, before doing solo projects, Vetrimaaran has worked as an assistant director to Balu Mahendra in a television show, and later he went on to work with director Kadhir. During that time, Vetrimaaran played a small role in Kadhir's directorial 'Kadhal Virus' starring Richard, Sridevi Vijaykumar and Abbas in the lead role.

Director Vignesh Shivan made his debut with the romantic drama 'Poda Podi' starring Simbu and Varalaxmi Sarathkumar in lead roles. By delivering back to back hit films, Vignesh Shivan has proved his skills and developed himself. After making his debut, Vignesh Shivan played a cameo role in Dhanush's 'Velaiyilla Pattathari', but his first big-screen appearance was in the horror-drama 'Sivi', which was directed by KR Senthil Nathan. Vignesh Shivan played the friend of the lead actor Yogi in the film.
