On October 21, the Madras High Court ruled that there is no ban on its OTT release, citing its prior Censor Board certification and theatrical release. Directed by Pa Ranjith and starring Chiyaan Vikram, 'Thangalaan' was originally slated for OTT streaming on September 20, but the petition caused a delay. With the court's dismissal, the film is now expected to stream around Diwali.
