Vijay then developed his skills at different stages of his cinema career and has grown as a powerful Indian actor. Father's kid

Vijay's father SA Chandrasekhar is a well-known director in Tamil cinema, and even he was surprised when Vijay said about his wish of becoming an actor. Vijay then impressed his father by recreating a scene from Rajinikanth's famous movie 'Annamalai', and convinced him. Vijay was then trolled for being under his fathers' wings, and restricting himself by doing only films directed by his father.

Late 1990's

After receiving flak for acting only in his father's directorial films. Vijay teamed up with several promising directors like Fasil, Vikraman, Vasanth, Balasekaran, and others. He was selective in his films and doing more romantic and family dramas. It worked well for the actor, and he became more famous among the audience.

Action-packed decade

'Bhagavathi' and 'Thirumalai' had become the turning point in Vijay's career as he suited well for action roles. Vijay then shifted to do mass action dramas to deliver commercial hit films. But there were many ups and downs in his stats during the 2000 decade. However, fans didn't fail to support him and motivated the actor to deliver blockbusters.

Continuous box office hits

The 2011 action-drama 'Thuppakki', which was directed by AR Murugadoss, gave the much-needed strike for Vijay to become the first 100 crore movie at the box office. Vijay has been selective in choosing his films to deliver continuous box office hits. Atlee is the one who changed the title for Vijay from Ilayathalapathy to Thalapathy, and was given the title in the 2017 action-drama 'Mersal'.

Socially responsible

Being a leading actor, Vijay has been also socially responsible and raised his voice in support of people in various social issues like Demonetisation, Jallikattu Protest, and others. This made him stand separate from others, and fans started expecting him to enter politics. His films have also faced several issues for their content questioning the government, but he never kept his mouth shut to ask questions.
