Kamal Haasan's 'Thug Life' sparks row in Karnataka

Kamal Haasan’s latest film 'Thug Life,' which was released on June 5, became the center of a controversy in Karnataka over a remark he made during the film’s audio launch. During his speech, Kamal spoke about the Kannada language and its historical roots, which some in Karnataka interpreted as offensive. As a result, certain groups demanded an apology, threatening to block the film’s release in the state. Kamal, known for his firm stance, responded by saying, “If I had said something wrong, I’m willing to apologize. But I cannot apologize for something that was misunderstood.” Despite his clarification, the film was not released in Karnataka, sparking debate over linguistic pride and artistic freedom.

Dhanush breaks silence amid legal row with Nayanthara

Actor Dhanush, currently in a legal tussle with Nayanthara over a behind-the-scenes clip used in her documentary 'Nayanthara: The Fairy Tale,' recently addressed the growing negativity against him. At the 'Kuberaa' audio launch, Dhanush delivered a fiery speech, hinting at smear campaigns ahead of his film releases. He expressed gratitude to his fans for their unwavering support, adding, “Happiness is a choice.” The legal row stems from Dhanush objecting to the unauthorized use of a three-second clip from 'Naanum Rowdy Dhaan,' demanding ₹1 crore in damages. Nivin Pauly joins Lokesh Kanagaraj's Cinematic Universe as a villain in 'Benz'

Malayalam actor Nivin Pauly is set to play a ruthless antagonist named Walter in 'Benz,' directed by Bakkiyaraj Kannan and starring Raghava Lawrence. Marking his fourth Tamil film, 'Benz' is part of the Lokesh Cinematic Universe (LCU), with events unfolding parallel to other LCU films. Director Bakkiyaraj promises a never-seen-before villainy from Nivin, who will also dub for himself. Raghav Lawrence’s character too will carry grey shades. Madras HC slams CBFC over 'Manushi' ban

The Madras High Court has criticized the CBFC for refusing certification for the Tamil film 'Manushi' without specifying objectionable content. Filmmaker Vetrimaaran filed a petition challenging the lack of clarity. Justice N. Anand Venkatesh noted that such vague rejections hurt filmmakers financially. The court ordered the CBFC to list problematic scenes or screen the film with the team by June 16. The board had cited issues like anti-national content and portrayal of a North-South divide. The film stars Andrea Jeremiah, with music by Ilaiyaraaja.
