With 'The Kerala Story' banned in Tamil Nadu; Tamil films that were banned abroad!

The Hindi film 'The Kerala Story' was released in theatres on May 5. The film has grossed over Rs 130 crore in India, but the movie was banned in Tamil Nadu from its release. The film was banned in the state as the multiplex association claimed that it will cause a lot of law and order problems in the state. 'Teh Kerala Story' was not the first film to be banned from screening. Meanwhile, here's a list of Tamil films that were banned in abroad.

Directed by Manu Anand, 'FIR' - Faizal Ibrahim Raiz was banned from its release as it failed to clear censorship norms in countries like Kuwait, Qatar and Malaysia. The film made a box office collection of Rs 8 crore in India.

Directed by Pa Ranjith, Kabali starred Rajinikanth in the lead role. The film's plot is about the journey of a gangster named Kabali, who plans to avenge his rivals decades later. The movie was banned in Malaysia though it was completely shot in Malaysia and it was about native Indians settled there.

Directed by Kamal Haasan, 'Vishwaroopam' starred Kamal Haasan, Andrea Jeremiah, Pooja in the lead roles. The movie was released in multiple languages in India but it was banned in Malaysia. The film's plot had aspects related to terrorism and it was banned from screening in Malaysia.

Directed by Nelson Dilipkumar, 'Beast; starred Vijay and Pooja Hegde in the lead roles. The movie was released in theatres on April 13, 2022. The film though made a blockbuster in India, it was banned from its release in Kuwait and Qatar because of its Islamic content.
