Pawan Kalyan took everyone by storm when his film Tholi Prema hit the screens in 1998. Right from Pawan’s acting prowess to Karunakaran’s powerful direction, Tholi Prema stands out and leaves an impact on people. Karunakaran's exceptional narration
'Tholi Prema' has an extremely tight and engaging screenplay. A Karunakaran, who made his directorial debut with Tholi Prema, has come a long way. The ease with which he packages and delivers a rom-com like Tholi Prema is exceptional. The hard work that he has put in as a director in the film yields him rich dividends, earning him a Best First Film of a Director Nandi Award. It just did not look like being directed by a debutant director. He has given a high-on-entertainment movie that will keep you hooked throughout.

Pawan Kalyan, Keerthi Reddy's performance
As for the performances, 'Tholi Prema' rests mostly on the shoulders of its lead cast Pawan Kalyan and Keerthi Reddy. Tholi Prema, which happens to be Pawan’s fourth film (his debut being Akkada Ammayi Ikkada Abbayi), also sees him grow superlatively as an actor. After some brilliant performances in movies like Akkada Ammayi Ikkada Abbayi, Gokulamlo Seeta and Suswagatham, Pawan Kalyan has added one more powerful role to his kitty. On the other hand, Keerthi Reddy, besides looking good, has also contributed immensely towards the film. Her performance in this film went down as one of her most memorable performances.

Deva's evergreen soundtrack
The film also boasts of having good music composed by Deva. Songs like "Ee Manase Se Se", "Gagananiki Udayam", and "Emi Sodhara" leave a lasting impression. The USP of the film's music is that it has been integrated properly with the proceedings. The background score is racy and keeps pace with the fast-changing narrative and the numerous twists that keep you on the edge of your seat throughout. The film's cinematography by Y. Maheedhar and Chota K. Naidu is superlative, it's editing by Marthand K Venkatesh is decent.

Comedy and emotional scenes
The film also has many noteworthy scenes. For example, the conflict between the protagonist and the family (father and son) has been shot really well. The movie has a foundation set on neat comedy and emotional scenes laid over serious moments, which give the movie a breezy feel. The film also puts the hero through a lot of emotional turmoil, which works out like a double-edged sword.

Supporting cast's contribution
The other actors too bring in top-notch performances in the film, which helps the film's progress in a smooth manner minus any guffaws. Ali, Venu Madhav, Narra Venkateswara Rao, Nagesh, Achyuth, Ravi Babu, PJ Sarma, Sangeetha and others formed the supporting cast of 'Tholi Prema.' The film was bankrolled by GVG Raju under the banner of SSC Arts.
