Birthday Special! Sreenu Vaitla: How he made his mark in the film industry

Film direction is an art form and Sreenu Vaitla is a perfect example who developed super hit films in a career spanning over 19 years in the film industry. With his direction, films with average script and cast did amazingly well at the box office. Sreenu Vaitla was born in Kandulapalem, East Godavari district, Andhra Pradesh on September 27, 1972.

He’s chosen by the producers for his ability to bring a screenwriter’s script to life using his unique interpretation of the narration. He can guide the actors and actresses to deliver their lines and portray their characters in a way. On the occasion of his 46th birthday, take a look at how he makes his mark in the film industry.

2/7

Nee Kosam

‘Nee Kosam’, released in 1999, is the story of an orphans’ love story. When he falls in love with a girl for the daughter of a disciplinarian father, he has to be able to overcome his love problems. Although the movie was shot on a small budget, it has gained a lot of critical acclaims and honoured with the Nandi Award for Best Actress, Best Actor Special Jury, Best First Film of a Director and Best Screenplay Writer. One of the best films ever made, the film marks the debut film of Sreenu Vaitla.

3/7

Anandam

‘Anandam’ was one of the most successful films to be directed by Sreenu Vaitla. Produced by Ramoji Rao under the banner of Ushakiran Movies, the movie was a huge success critically as well as commercially. Srinu Vaitla in association with Chintapalli Ramana has penned dialogues for the film and they are great. Sameer Reddy’s cinematography captures the essence of the Ooty and several other scenic places.

4/7

Venky

In the 2004 film, a group of young and aspiring new police recruits are trying to uncover a murder mystery of one of the aspirants’ girlfriend's father. Ravi Teja exudes a terrific performance and could well be one of his best. Actress Raasi is a surprise package, except for her brief presence. The leading lady Sneha has been greatly confident in her part. Comedian-turned-hero Srinivasa Reddy did pretty well in the film. There’s hilarious comedy in the film that you will definitely get big laughs out of.

5/7

Dhee

Starring Vishnu Manchu and directed by Sreenu Vaitla, the film was the biggest blockbuster of the year. Sreenu Vaitla is known for his comedy dramas by people who have seen him throughout his career. It’s one of those casual comedy entertainers that most will view as uncomplicated and that seems to be his style of making.

6/7

Ready

A laugh-riot among his various comedy films, this complete comedy entertainer was a consistent box office success due to the hilarious performance of Bramhanandam and because there were no moments that appeared to be a drag. Besides being entertaining and fun, this film is the most family-friendly and the plot was also interesting enough to carry the viewers all the way through. Starring Ram Pothineni and Genelia D'Souza in the lead roles, the film had music by Devi Sri Prasad.

7/7

Dookudu

Yet again, Sreenu Vaitla shows off his directing prowess, narrating a gripping tale that convinces and draws the audiences in line and hook. Although Vaitla’s making remains the focus of the film, he is all but outdone by the fabulous star cast. Mahesh Babu amazingly raises above his already tremendously impressive acting skills and Samantha steps up to the challenge and holds her own alongside Mahesh. It was inevitably a triumphant creation.
